Finally getting to the parts that started this adventure. Got the passenger side exhaust header installed tonight.

Almost there Eh... Glad you are doing the headers... From all of the 5.0's I have seen in the trucks they were horribly choked of from the factory... I would think this should give you better torque and mid range... Looking good

Re: I'm a redneck now...got a pickup
Tonight, Got the driver's side manifold installed along with the exhaust manifold Y-pipe. Put 4 quarts of oil in it and moved on to the last few pieces that need cleaned up before installing them (coil, air injector pump, and a few little odds & ends.)

Perhaps tomorrow night I'll have it ready to try starting it back up.
No updates on the body, except the flat bed is down in Port Orange waiting for me. I have to take the truck there to have it installed. There's really no practical way to man-handle the bed here at the house. It's not that it's too heavy, it's just rather awkward.

Re: I'm a redneck now...got a pickup
IT LIVES!!!!

Took three tries to get it started, plus a cloud (more like a smoke-screen from all the residue from cleaning the manifold). Initial attempt, I forgot to connect the coil. Try number 2, the distributor was one tooth out (firing after TDC), Third try it lit right up and settled into an idle.
Tomorrow, I can put the fender well back in and hang the electric radiator (took it off a Bonneville at LKQ, so the truck has it's first Bonneville part on it for a little character

Re: I'm a redneck now...got a pickup
It will sound better once that stock muffler is gone. I thought about lopping it off today while I had the tubing cutter in hand. Was able to control myself and just work on what needed to be done.
Today was about getting the frame ready for the flat bed. I put the first coat on all the areas I could easily get to. Some parts will have to wait until there's a need to work in a particular area, namely the inside of the frame rails around the gas tanks. (perhaps I'll drop the tanks and just get it over with now, before the bed is on the truck...decisions, decisions...)
I also shortened up the filler necks on both fuel tanks. The flat bed has plates in the deck for fuel fills, so I'll end up doing this over once I have the bed to work with. At least this way I can drive the truck without the bed and get it to where the bed is for the installation.

Bonneville parts on a ford....

Fan is all hooked up and working. I added the relay in an empty cavity in the fuse-block. Also connected a temporary set of tail lights (section of an aluminum network rack with a pair of trailer lights.) It gives me tail lights & turn signals so I can drive it without the bed.

Still waiting on the flat-bed. Was supposed to go on yesterday at noon, but the fellow was stuck in Ocala. Looks like it will have to wait for a few more weeks, unless he wants to do it this evening.

A couple quarts of ATF might help to quiet that noisy p/s pump? I did this with a Ford I used to own and it made it MUCH quieter. Almost silent. You just drain whats in there and fill & bleed with ATF.

Re: I'm a redneck now...got a pickup
Finally got the flat bed put on. Drove the truck the 20 miles to the fellow who had the bed. So far it's just tacked on the frame. I still have to make the spacer blocks to level the bed out and install the U-bolts to attach it to the frame for good. Just got home about an hour ago, so spent about six hours on this today.
Going to relax for a while and start going at it with a wire brush and paint tomorrow.
