My New 75 Gran Torino (Update)

Post by Blownville »

Well I started out with a project 66 Falcon and decided to sell it before I got any further into it. I was able to find a buyer for the rolling shell so I have my 88 mustang 306 to put into my new Torino. So here is some pics to check it out. It was formerly a 10 second drag car and has alot of money into the chassis and paint. Enjoy!

Jesse

Wow, Nice! Needs new wheels, though. Those centerlines are so 1990's. Other than that it looks like a great project!

I love Torino's!
My Grandma had a 1975 Torino Sport with the stock 460 4speed. Bought new in 1975 for 5500 dollars and sold finally in 1994.
I would love to own one

Thanks all! Yeah I picked it up as a roller for $3000 and it came with about $700 worth of parts to sell. I brought the car home on Sat. and on Sun. I went to a swap meet here and was able to get a better B&M shifter, an autometer tach, and a 95k btu torpedo heater. I was also able to get a griffin aluminum radiator and a full 3 inch flowmaster exhaust that dumps in front of the rear wheels through a guy my neighbor knows. I should have the motor mounts tomorrow so this car will be running very soon! :) As far as the rims go those rims are my absolute favorite so I wouldnt change them unless it was for minilites or torq thrust D's sorry just my preference.

That's a sharp car, I like the rims, too, but minilites ftw!

Oh yeah I remember. It has a N case 9" with the big bearings, 4.56 gears, Detroit Locker, Moser axles (not sure what spline) and a Daytona yoke. Yeah there is at least $3K just in the rear end and ladder bar suspension. I talked to the guy who built it and he said it ran 11.3 on motor and 10.2 on a 200 shot of nitrous on a stroked 460! He also said he had more than $3k just in the paint!! So I think I got a steal at $3k for the car. I also just picked up a full 5 book set of factory 75-76 service manuals for $10! For once lifes good and thanks all for the compliments.

It is finally a running and driving car!! I still need to fix a few minor things and fine tune it but at least I will have a car to take to the shows this summer. Here are a few pics of what it looks like now.

This is the Flex a lite Mojave stand alone heater and I was able to blow it into the vents. I hooked the hot/cold lever up to the vent/defrost switch and I cna now have heat on the vent or defrost.

LMAO!!!! I thought no one would notice!!! Hehe!!! I spent way too much time and money to only have it keep trying to push the belt over the lip on the alt. It threw the first belt and kinked it within the first few short runs. So I then found that NAPA could Special order a Gates 1.5 wide 42" long cog belt for me and it cost me $59! Took it home and the cog spacing was too wide and would not work at all. So I ordered 2 of the correct Procomp belts for $49. Took th NAPA one back and after a week and a half got a $41 refund. I destroyed one of the 2 Procomp belts trying to get it to track correctly. So I decided to use the March Vbelt pullies I bought for $75 a while back but only had 1 groove crank pulley so I needed to buy a 2 groove one to run my power steering. Another $90 and 2 new Vbelts later I now have a reliable belt drive. It really sucks but I had no choice. I am just happy to have a running driving show car for this summer now. I am definately going to a 460 as soon as summer is over though. Its gonna be a summer/winter project and should end up around 500-550 or more horsepower. Cant wait for that.
