I'm a little worried about the Expedition

I did an oil change on it myself today and only got 2.5 quarts out

The engine takes 6 quarts....

The last year I was living in an apartment and didnt have the space or ability to perform the oil changes myself. I had been going to a local shop in the Spokane area to have the oil changes done. The Expedition has NEVER leaked or burned any oil.

I'm going to pray and hope that the motor and oil pump are still ok.

There were no signs that the engine was low on oil (But I should have check the dipstick last time it was changed!) Other than a little lifter tap when the engine is first started (which it has always done) the oil pressure always looked fine along with the engine temp.

Any suggestions on what I could do to head-off any further damage and looming engine issues this may have caused?

Not really. As long as it isn't knocking or smoking let it be. Just make sure it gets what it needs from now on.
