Just wanted some opinions on this.

Personally, i would delete the calender (most of us have one in the lower right of our computer, and unless we are putting events on it (which there aren't many of) then i don't see the point)

also, the clock. First, it has no numbers, yeah, it's a pontiac symbol. but i can see 4 clocks right now :roll:, I just think it's clutter for something we don't need.

also, the "new posts box" had a formatting glitch, there is no bullets or anything to distinguish the new posts from each other

Quote:

It's hard to tell where one begins, and the other ends. This is another section i could do without, since we already have a "view new posts" button, but if you haven't figured it out i'm REALLY minimalistic when it comes to design.

The "who's in chat" box was formatted funky also yesterday, names go off the edge of the box instead of indenting down to the next line like they should. you can only see the first 2.5 names of the people in chat. This could be fixed, i can't see since there is no one in chat.

the Jump to: select a forum i think should be in a more visible spot if we are going to keep it. It's quicker for me just to hit "forums" at the top, and the the desired sub-forum than to scroll to the bottom of the page, and select it from the drop-down list.

I know a lot of hard work went into this site, and overall it's an improvement!
Take your time, and i would like to hear other member's feedback too, just some suggestions.

Well, I for one love it! And it's not just because my car is front & center :laughing3:

Seriously though, I do like the calender. But I wouldn't miss it if you guys toss it. The clock is cool but unnecessary I guess. I would also like to see bullets or something to separate the topic links in the Recent Topic section. The Random member box doesn't really make sense to me but it doesn't bother me either.

Otherwise it's good for me.

Oh no, not the clock :( I spent days-a week on that.
I think that it blends in well with the overall look.

Keep in mind that if we do expand the whole forum that portal is going to be wider and there will be even MORE space.

i think the portal should be centered as is, and everything in the /forum directory should be stretched. That should be fairly easy.

Actually - it's not. The portal is centered by the code in the phpbb.

#-o just realized the portal is /forum/portal.. why is that? seems like it makes it a pain to edit them separately.

Even if it wasn't forum/portal you still couldn't edit them separately it's bound with the forum - that's how it gets all its info.

well i'll admit im not an expert on this, but instead of having it draw the size from the forum, you could probably replace whatever command/script does that with a fixed value? not great on terminology, the websites i create are pretty basic.

I'm sure you guys know what you're doing though. I guess that's somthing i can live with

the clock just needs numbers, then it will be better.

I've found and added bullets to the new posts box. Let me know if you preffer a different style or anything.

much better, what about a

<ul>
<li>First item
<li>Second item
<li>Third item
</ul>

format? normal circular bullets.. if thats not easy, then dont worry about it

we need a "portal" button to the left of forum i think.

Done. I like the <li>a lot better too. Stands out even more.

Chat window in portal has been adjusted, but still need tweaking. I'll need to look at it more when there are people in chat.

He's using FireFox. IE8 does the same thing, and it also does what it's in the pic down there..

OK, I'll see if I can adjust it in firefox, and hope that IE8 follows.

My firefox isn't doing that thing with the quick reply... I'll have to look into that one later on.
