There has been a lot of talk recently about revitalizing the forum. One of the items that came up was the structure of the forum topics (eg: mechanical, 92-99, etc...). How would you like to see things arranged on here? Nows yours chance to speak up! Please be as specific as possible when listing it out.

In the tech area, you need to keep a 3800 and N* section.

Maybe a specific subsection for drivetrain related issues, but how many other differences are there between the GXP and the rest?

I don't see any need at all for more then one meets section. There is maybe five meets on this forum a year, big and small meets can be thrown into the same section. It took a full year to even get enough threads in the Eastern meets section to fill one page. Only two threads (for posts total) in the last year in the Western meets section. The National / Regional section had two threads in the last year and that's it. Do we really need two extra sections for four topics?

Combine the audio and everything electronic sections, I feel it only causes confusion and topics are often put in one place that could easily go to both or posted in the wrong one all together. IMHO everything electronic includes audio and aftermarket electronics. That or just eliminate the electrical sections and merge them with the appropriate year sections.

The GXP is a 2000+ I don't see a need for it to have it's entire own section, it should be combined with the rest of the 2000+ crowd. Other Northstar powered vehicle problems would go into the Your Other Rides section.

I thin the tech section for other vehicles as well as forced induction, and on the road can be collapsed into General chat.

Move Vendors to the Buy/Sell section

Collapse to one Meets section

By definition, we're supposed to post electrical problems in Everything Electrical and Electronic - which isn't broken down by year. Most people end up posting in the their year's section anyway, and for the same reason I feel EE&E doesn't get very much attention. So I'll echo what Ryan said:

- Audio/Electronics being geared towards in-car entertainment and gadgetry
- Electrical problems posted by generation in mechanical/maintenance
- Agreed on consolidating Meets

It is a 2000+, but it's engine, trans, PCM, Network (2005's are CAN), are all different. The rest of the car, yes. But the powertrain, like Matt eludes to, is a completely different animal. And the others are Northstar offspring, so they're ok.

Could we have an add-on Northstar engine section, and leave the rest in 00+?

Lets take this a few chunks at a time.

1) Should the 3 meet categories be grouped into one?

2) Should the Bonneville Gear & More section be dissolved into the other 3 buy/sell/trade sections?

1.) Yes.

2.) Make it a subforum of For Sale/Trade?

I say yes to both questions.

I know that consolidating these sections will lead to a much smaller looking forum, but I also believe it will lead to less overall confusion as well as make it easier for people to find and get help with what they need.

Meets have been consolidated.

As for the Bonneville Gear section, it appears we just need to weed thru the posts and throw them into the appropriate sections (wanter, for sale, general, etc...)

I like this. A problem can often be electrical or mechanical depending on the system (take the ECC problems so popular with the 92-99's for instance)...so where do you post? Mechanical section or electrical? With the suggestion above you post pretty much all your 92-99 car problems in the 92-99 section. Easy.

And consolidate all meet topics under one heading...good.
