Should the techinfo information on BC be removed? I dont know any specifics of who "owns" that info, but it was written by the members of people on Pontiac Bonneville Club, that are no longer a part of BC. So, my question is, should someone take that stuff down?

I could be wrong, but I believe that it does actually "belong" to BC. Besides, I don't think it is anyone's intent here to ruin BC or do morally incorrect things. In fact, I think it would be wrong.

We will be fine by creating our own techinfo, much of which will be the same as on BC, but from the original authors themselves.

Remember that there will be some BC members who are casual members and many that never even post once. Those are less likely to see the need to move to Pontiac Bonneville Club, IMO, yet still deserve access to the info that is there.

Let's try not to be spiteful and instead move forward with the helping and kind spirit we all remember and that has moved us here to begin with.

After I posted that, I went into the lounge and read one of Bills post, and anything in the databases belong to PTD. I guess really it doesnt hurt to leave it up on the other site. As long as it stays intact and correct, it will be helping people which is the main goal of it.

Well, to your credit, you hadn't had the advantage of having read a zillion posts dealing with the transition yet. So I suppose we could forgive you , just this once...lol. :)

I just want to point out that there isn't anything proprietary about a collection of *actual technical information* about out cars. Things like RPO codes, part numbers, torque specs, etc; -They are what they are, nobody OWNS that information. The fact that they're posted on some other site somewhere doesn't make them off-limits for having them available here.

-Mark

POSTS on BC are actually owned by the AUTHOR, with rights to host/display to the owner of the site. It wouldn't techinically be LEGAL for me to remove any posts or articles by jr's3800. If I had edit access to Techinfo, I believe it would be legal only for me to EDIT, but not remove those articles.

Not really sure on alot of this. We looked into it in depth when we started down this road to make sure we were doing things RIGHT. I can tell you much of the old techinfo is severely out of date, which is why it's taking longer than usual to bring up the new one. Updates are happening offline.

if you read up a few posts, lash and I both agreed about this:
