I still don't see the usefulness of the clock, or the calender. We have both on our computers already and there are no events to require a calender. Also, why when you click on a date does it brings you to "view new posts" ?? The random member box seems pointless to me also. If you can't tell, i like things very minimalistic. People are more likely to overlook the useful information if the portal is cluttered.

The COTM also seems to take up a ton of space, while not really filling it. At least on My screen layout.

All i did here was drag a couple things around, no resizing. frees up a lot of space you could crop off that box

not big issues, just suggestions

Yea, we are looking at the portal and how to improve it. I can say from your pictures you have a wide desktop. The COTM fills it from left to right on a 1024 x 768 screen.

maybe some fancier coding would help. percentages instead of a set width for everything?

^ that's really how we should be doing it. It does look terrible on a display like yours. We have some portal stuff in the works...in fact, it just came up a few hours ago.
