If it has two as I believe (GM should have been using two sensors up until 2000) it would be right next to the first sensor on a bracket at the back of the engine over the valve cover.

You are creating a high load without enabling power enrichment. It's a low rpm which means the momentum of the motor isnt' behind you.

Once you get the adapter off and slow down the cursing for a moment. Remove the old spring and plunger. Assemble the new one by putting the washer into the plunger and the spring follows it. Coat the exterior of the plunger with a little oil to lubricate it and reinsert into the block. Line up the g...

The whistling sound is very likely an improperly installed pcv or a pcv missing o rings to seal it.

What I mean is with this hot weather, if your climate control is on auto or defrost the AC will automatically be requested to be on and that could keep your fans running. Also it could be a carboned up relay.

Can you please post the instructions you used or wire and relay that you tapped into.

Double check your climate control. Even with the AC unplugged it may be getting a request. If so, fans should be on.

It's always possible the temp sensor for the pcm is high enough to request fans, or the relay is sticking a bit.

Do you have the AC on? If the AC is on, the fans are automatically turned on.

Doesn't your son's car have the same sensor?

Actually his car would have two. One for the pcm to work and one for the gauge. If you borrowed his gauge one, your pcm would be happy, as you have only one sensor.

It's funny.. even if your UIM had blown out as Petraman was suggesting, the coolant wouldn't be in your oil. Checking your oil level/quality for a bad upper is a misconception.

There's always buying a tuner and learn how to tune. You can easily and effectively tune a supercharged car to run on 87 octane. It's the same basic principles as tuning it to run on 100 octane at the track. Interesting tidbit of knowledge I picked up along the way.. #4 of the top fastest B'villes w...

I pulled a degree or two after VE was reasonable and that killed it off for the most part. If you graph out the VE on the 3D chart you'll notice that slightly above your KR zone there is an abyss. A bit of smoothing on the lip of the canyon may play a big part in becoming KR free. It's most likely 3...

Don't be surprised if you dont' find an exhaust rub. The 97's are known for part throttle KR. Part of it may be due to the analog vs digital knock sensor circuit. I found a good chunk of mine in the VE and base timing tables. As well some of the adder tables seem a bit overstated for the temperature...

The stock GM Dash gauge will always read 200 when the ECT temp is between 180 and 221. This is so customers don't freak out when their gauge fluctuates all the time based on outside temps. Putting a 180 thermostat in the car only causes the t-stat to open at 180 not keep the car at 180 degrees. You...

Radiator cracks are common on older rads with plastic tanks. The repeated heat and cold cycles expand and contract the plastic. Sooner or later..it cracks. The nice thing is it'll usually seep/slowly leak and not leave you 100% stranded.

I have used a piece of hose inserted into almost the U bend before and then connected a new piece over that and the hard line that should connect to it.

The U bend is a special connector and can't easily be replaced with vac line.

Your car feels better before it's up to temp for a few reasons. Many of them are tuning related. Before reaching 160ish you are still in open loop which runs on predetermined tables. Whereas once you warm up you run on closed loop or inputs based on the sensors. If you merely tap into the fan relay ...

It's the beauty of 97, timing always shows negative. Custom PID or just multiply by -1 and you are back on track.

I never changed my trans until after 3.29's.

You should be able to use a factory fan, only you take off the metal heat shield. Over time you may notice the fan looks a little melted..although mine is still working well.

I'm looking forward to your find on a low profile fan.
