GXP has a different sweep for the speedometer, so you'd be off on the mileage, and the boost gauge would read volts but show boost. That's why the chips aren't swappable. Because then the cluster acts like an SSEi cluster. |

I had no idea there were G8's in Europe. I knew Vauxhall brought some Holden's over, but not G8's. Please take lots of pics and the VIN. I'd like to know if it was imported from the U.S. Maybe someone in the Armed Forces brought it over and sold it while stationed in Germany or Italy... |

He shouldn't have the dash torn out for the ignition switch. You remove the cover and it comes out pretty easily, IIRC? |

Throw some seafoam TransTune in there. If it can be fixed by fluid, that will fix it. |

There isn't a paper gasket between the housing and the intake manifold. There is an o-ring around the thermostat. Make sure both the face of the intake and the face of the housing are clean and flat, and clean them with a scotch-brite if they're not. You shouldn't need a gasket unless something has ... |

Knowing the UIM/LIM issues, and not knowing the history of the car, I'd tear the top end apart regardless. The parts are only $300, and its doable for someone with basic mechanic's skills and tools to do in a weekend. My big thing would be finding a car with no major problems, and no rust. Little cr... |

I mean, it's a 3800. *fook* if I've got three of them with over 300k miles on them, two of which are now turbocharged. Unreliable? No. You just got shafted by the fact that a 20 year old junkyard motor needed gaskets, and you were too lazy to realize that a 20 year old motor might need gaskets, to ... |

I was gonna say, remove the belts. I spent a year one night bouncing between 3 parts store parking lots replacing pulleys, it ended up being the lower idler for the belt, it was the last one I replaced, and that was after I replaced the entire tensioner because I thought it was bad. I think I still ... |

The other option would be to drop the subframe on both cars and switch. Unless the Bonne subframe has rust issues. I think you'd use the whole engine harness on the Supercharged motor, and then just get the security tuned on the Bonne PCM. Both cars use the same PCM, so you'll just have to have one ... |

I replaced the rear speakers in the Passat and somehow managed to blow a fuse for the power windows, which for some reason makes the car not start. Also did my first start by popping the clutch while troubleshooting. I love pull-starting. It's how we start old tractors with dead batteries lol. Not ... |

The only difference is the bumper. As far as I know all you need is the bumper and the foam insert? Everything else should be the same, but don't quote me on that. |

The boost gauge jumping wildly could be a number of things; my guess is it's a bad stepper motor in the cluster, or a vacuum leak. Either way, it's unrelated to the engine knocking. Like said, check the harmonic balancer first. If you look at the face of it, there is a rubber ring. If that rubber is... |

2001 Bonnevilles did not have any kind of electronic suspension up front. The only thing they had was ELC, which is the load-leveling in the rear, which uses air shocks and a ride-height sensor to reduce sagging with people, luggage, etc in the car. |

Right, I get that. Could you swap this cover on for a bit with the old gasket, or rags over the cams, to keep the crud out while you take your stock cover to be refinished? Unless you're afraid that the cover is warped or damaged somehow. |
