I'm trying to replace my rack and pinion on my 03 SLE. I can't get the (2) 18 mm mounting bolts off. I tried just about every method but the sway bar is in the way. I might have to go to Sears and purchase a 18mm off set box end. Any ideas? Thanks, Bob.

I called the pontiac dealer today and they said it would be around $165. for a new shaft. I'm going to try the grease trick first. I also want to say THANKS for all the help! Bob.

I checked the inner tie rod and it seems to be tight. With the car turned off and moving the steering wheel back and forth real fast I can put my hand on the intermittent shaft and pulling up real hard I can get the click'n noise to quiet up a little. So I guess this is the problem? Any more input ...

I don't know if this is the intermittent shaft or not?? While backing out of my driveway with the wheel straight I hear a big click coming from the front suspension on the drivers side. Sometimes sitting at a red light and the steering wheel is straight I just give it some gas to pull out and hear ...

The click'n noise is coming from this shaft in the pics moving up and down. If I turn my steering wheel slightly left to right this shaft makes a clunk'n noise. When I hold this shaft with vice grips (rack and pinion) the clunk'n stops when I move the wheel. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks, Bob.

Before I purchased my 03 SLE the drivers heated seat was broke. The light would come on for a second and then go out. The owner said that he would have the seat fixed before I bought it. He called me a day later and said it's fixed ,it was only a module. Bob.

Hi, I just purchased a cabin filter (wix) with the frame from Napa. The filter with the frame wouldn't go thru the opening! Do you have to remove the filter from the frame and install the frame first then install the filter into the frame? STUMPED!! Thanks ,Bob.

Why would the A/c compressor run all the time with the climate control in auto even in the full heat mode? This would really hurt your gas milage! Right?

I just noticed that my A/c compressor was running all the time even when calling for full heat. I had my wife hit all the buttons on the dual climate control while I watched the compressor. It finally shut off when she hit the A/c button several times, and now I can't get the compressor to come on ...
