Re: 2001 SLE (PROJECT REBUILD)

Gotchya, was just wondering if you were close to MN or the Twin Cities up here, I could look at it and/or I'm sure Andrew would maybe come and take a peek at it depending on where you were.

Nevermind.

Re: hard water stains on my window

Your parents have hard water? Water spots happen because of minerals and dirt in the water. Let the water bake in the sun and you are left with all the deposits on your paint. Waxing isn't going to work unless you use a cleaner wax. That might do the trick. Clay bar might as well. Otherwise you are ...

Re: Make it accelerate faster?

SLE's are boats with an anchor. There is no comparison. Mine has a tune, FWI, ported exhaust manifold, ported lower intake manifold, colder plugs, new wires, and still it's not even in the same ballpark as an SSEi.

You need Rockers....then you'll get up there....I had a 98 SLE with rockers and a ...

Re: hard water stains on my window

A good wax on everything (windows and all) will take it right off. Worse case you use steel wool pads to get the spots off the glass. May need more than one application. Otherwise find a body/detail shop and get the buff n shine treatment. A lil pricey but looks awesome buff'd n wax'd.

I need to start going to your garage sales when I need a car...just gotta catch it before you strip it apart. Judging by the last few posts, I got about 1 hr between pick up to start time to catch ya before you have something fixed or stripped apart on them lol

Re: Thermostat Question

What these guys said lol

Or if you did the man override you could turn them on yourself. Actually that would be the really way you could see a diff if you have a better gauge than stock or an Aeroforce.

Aeroforce FTW.

You can put an override switch in, yeah, but getting a tuned up PCM with the ...

Re: 2001 SLE (PROJECT REBUILD)

you're gonna have your work cut out for you......honestly.....by the time you get this remotely ok to go down the road you're prolly gonna get your dream SSEi.....

You have to get that support away from the engine tho....and if the A/C is touching the coils like it is, I'm betting the dog bone ...

I also just noticed how far the cowl piece is pushed up out of place, I bet you will find creases in the metal all the way to the base of the windshield.

Look between andrew's pic and your pic, looks like (I may be wrong) but the strut tower doesn't have a strut top stickin thru it...unless I'm ...

Re: Thermostat Question

A 180 stat would be useless with out it really because the car would still run at 195-210*......because the fans wouldn't kick on earlier to help regulate the temp.

Realistically, just the t-stat is gonna open at 180* but isn't gonna make the car run any cooler, that's up to the fans and ambient ...

Re: 2001 SLE (PROJECT REBUILD)

Andrew's right....that car is too far gone.....you guys are just looking cosmetically....the suspension in that corner is gonna be gone too...for it to remotely drive right, gonna have to fix the core support, and depending on the actual hit angle and intensity the subframe prolly isn't quite right ...

Re: When it rains it pours

Actually, try this....Try shooting your S/C to LIM mating surface, and your LIM to cylinder head/engine block mating surface with carb cleaner while the car is running. It's a long shot, but I'm suspecting a bad gasket seal. There's no way that bulb would have any affect like such. It's not under a ...

Agreed, i'd be checking all the vacuum lines and fittings in the area of the supercharger. If anything happened to that sphere on the fuel rail you'd be getting douched with fuel.

Re: The Big Project: Parts 1 & 2 (Project Log)

Good luck on these projects......it's definitely gonna be quite the undertaking as you can see with life happening all around you also!

My suggestion on your LeSabre, if the fuel lines are already rotted out, your steel brake lines are right behind it, so do yourself a favor, and just put those on ...
