2000 ssei. Replaced sc idler pulley #8 this weekend. After reading about the bad experiences with that bolt, I heated the bracket (not the bolt) and it came out easily. It was indeed reverse thread and wouldn’t budge before the heat, so hopefully that technique will help somebody.
Any rate, as I ...

Re: Climate control issue? Heater intermittent
Yesterday the heater worked as it should all day. Blew hot on both sides of the car as well as defrost etc. So I’m speculating that since the problem is intermittent, that it’s likely not a thermostat or heater core issue. Would anybody agree or am I over looking anything there? That leaves the ...

Re: Climate control issue? Heater intermittent
I will test in the morning. Pretty sure both sides are going cold at the same time. I believe I can hear a change of pitch or tone of the blower when it goes cold. It did the same thing this afternoon. Started out warm and then blew cold after about 15 minutes or so.

Re: Climate control issue? Heater intermittent
I’m wondering if this could be an air mix actuator going bad. Is there any way to test those? Looks like Andrew had some photos in his common problems write up but all the photos are gone now.

Climate control issue? Heater intermittent
2000 SSEI with 182k miles. Engine warms up to normal temp while driving but heat hasn’t been blowing as warm as normal in the cabin. Last week I was able to get it to blow hotter by pressing the fan controls and thereby taking the climate control out of “auto” mode. In both modes, the temp was set ...

PO131 code on Pontiac Montana
I have a 2003 Montana with 230k miles. When I accelerate really hard to pass (particularly uphill) the SES light comes on and the PO131 code is thrown. I can clear it and drive without issue until the next hard acceleration. There is no trouble idling or running - just the light and the code. Since ...

I can't really tell how hard it is to get out of there. Somebody said you have to remove the bumper cover. I guess that's my next step.

Re: ELC compressor not coming on - tests good
I unplugged the harness and put 12V to the red and grounded the white (actually both wires are white on the compressor side of the connector, but I made sure I was applying 12V to the right one). No click and none of the air let out of the shocks. I measured resistance across the red and white and ...

Re: ELC compressor not coming on - tests good
Ok, tested the red and white wires with ignition off - nothing. Had wife turn ignition on - within a few seconds the red and white had 12 volts for a second or so and then back to nothing just like you said. The black and green never got voltage. So I would conclude that the wiring is ok and the ...

Re: ELC compressor not coming on - tests good
Wow, ok. Yeah I'm very grateful you explained that. I was thinking wrong about the wiring. Thank you very much for looking this up and getting it to me. I will post what I find out.
I have checked and rechecked the 30amp fuse as well as the relay. I've swapped both with known good ones.

Re: ELC compressor not coming on - tests good
Got it. That makes sense. Thank you for that info!! So probably wiring?
The system was working fine before I replaced the rear shocks. In fact, it was running far too often due to the old leaky shocks so I pulled the relay out until I could get new shocks on. After new shocks, I put the relay back ...

Re: ELC compressor not coming on - tests good
agrazela - Yep, I did the same "fix" on the 98 bonnie and on the wife's Montana. I just hate to give up on this one since the compressor seems to be ok.

Re: Wow. Looks like the trunk has been leaking for a while
No drain tube. That's the tip off of some tube of caulk that fell down in there.
I guess I'll pull those plugs in the trunk lid and do a water test to see where it's coming from. There is a lot of rust in that well. I'm pretty sure if I punched it hard enough I'd go through. The spare is shot. The ...

ELC compressor not coming on - tests good
I'm still chasing my problem with the air ride. The compressor will not come on automatically nor manually with key on and pressing trunk button. I put 12 volts to the compressor this morning and it runs fine. I swapped out the 30amp fuse and the relay with known good ones. Still no luck.

Wow. Looks like the trunk has been leaking for a while
Can't remember ever using the spare tire, but I'm sure I've checked air in it a few times. Had a mysterious clunk in the trunk for a while so I decided to check the spare tire well...

Re: Rear suspension compressor not coming on
I'm assuming that the level control exhaust valve that the code is referring to is on the compressor? Will I need to remove the compressor to get to it? If I remember right, this compressor is in a different place than the '98

Rear suspension compressor not coming on
Rear struts were leaking bad and causing the compressor to run far too often. I pulled the relay to the compressor until I could find time to replace the struts. After replacing them, I put the relay back in and now the compressor never comes on.

Yes, that should help. For some reason I had it in my mind that I couldn't find a way to do that even in park. I will try that.

Re: Can a tech 2 turn off automatic headlights?
There's plenty of reasons to want to be able to turn the lights off. The most recent was when taking the family to a local "Christmas in the park" which is a drive thru Christmas light display. Sign at the entrance states "please turn off your headlights." It's a little embarrassing being one of the ...
