Re: P1811
I put a Transgo shift kit in 3 days ago, I haven't had a rough shift since. Kit + install cost me $200, definitely worth a try before replacing PCS or whatever else may be throwing P1811.

Re: Sudden hard shifting transmission
Did you buy the updated part?
The shift kit works because it overrides what the PCS does. Its basically a permanent band aid.[/quote]
The brand of PCS my trans shop used was a Wagner...so there's a lesson for anyone else on here who needs to replace PCS, maybe stay away from the Wagners! Unless it ...

Re: Sudden hard shifting transmission
My PCS went this past August, had it replaced and two months later the hard shifting when warm was back. P1811 code. Thanks to advice from some of the guys here, I bought a Transgo shift kit and it's going in next Tuesday. Crossing my fingers it works as nos4blood70's did !

Re: Coolant elbow/LIM issue
Yep...the elbow outer diameter is .875", with a .70" inner diameter and is about .25" long.
So if it blocked sideways, there should be still flow around it, and if it blocked straight coolant flow should be able to pass through the I.D. I hope!

Re: Coolant elbow/LIM issue
I had wanted the Dorman aluminum elbows, I looked locally and online and everywhere was sold out right now.
So I took the car for an hour long drive on the highway, no apparent issues yet. Seems to heat up quicker with the new elbow in (could be in my head too). So I suppose with this elbow peice ...

Re: Coolant elbow/LIM issue
I didn't replace the lower....it was in good shape still. I bought one just in case. The upper elbow @ GM here cost me $7.50...the lower $20! What a rip. So if it ever goes, I will replace it (fairly easy job) but in the meantime I am returning the new one.

Coolant elbow/LIM issue
Hey guys...so this morning I replaced the coolant elbow that goes from tensioner bracket into the LIM, the old one had a slow leak. Everything went well, except one thing. The old elbow had completely broke right around the o-ring seat, so the end of it (I estimate to be about .25" long) was left in ...

Re: PCS
Ah there's Intense...thanks! For the extra $ over the Transgo, is it really worth getting the Intense? With shipping it would be $50+ more. Transgo doesn't show a filter included, but I don't need one as I just had mine replaced 8000km ago.

Re: PCS
Been doing some online research, and based on posts both from this forum and from Grand Prix forum, the Transgo is preferred over the ZZP. Transgo has metal spacers and springs while ZZP has plastic spacers and no springs. I also read about an Intense shift kit, that is apparently better than both ...

Re: PCS
Thanks nos4blood. Based on the long shift/max pressure issues I am having, would you recommend one of the two kits over the other?

Re: PCS
I would suggest an aftermarket shift kit. Transgo or ZZP. I just put one in my car and cured the problem pretty much entirely.
Can you suggest where to look for a Transgo or ZZP shift kit? Can they be purchased at automotive store or do you need to buy online?

High idle when cold
Hey guys
I've been noticing lately (with the weather getting cooler) that my engine's cold idle seems on the high side (1300-1400 rpm). Once warm it's OK, around 700-800 rpm. I know there is no manual idle adjustment, but can anybody suggest what could be causing it to idle this high? The IAC is ...

Re: PCS
Seems to make sense. Thanks for the tips guys. Any idea how much shift kit and installation would be? Does tranny need to be dropped?

Re: PCS
So I am getting the P1811 max pressure code again...less than two months after PCS was replaced. Car is back to shifting harsh when warm. My tranny guy said it's very unlikely that it is the PCS again this time...and may require a teardown to determine what the problem is. Mutliple different issues ...

Re: Spark plugs
Thanks guys.
The outside temp here has been cooler, but not THAT much cooler where I would expect a 4 mpg drop. In a month or two, then yes for sure!
I will definitely check the routing of the back three wires and vicinity to O2 sensor. As for brand of wires, if Bosch is not good, what brand do ...
