Re: Trunk mystery

Every Bonneville of this vintage has the rear seat pass-through. There is a large plastic panel the spans the width of the rear seat. The panel you are talking about is probably that piece of trim and has just become dislodged. A pic would help identify it for sure. In my 2002 SE the panel was a ...

Trunk mystery

There is a large piece of loosely supported plastic that sits behind the rear seat in my trunk. What purpose does this serve, and is it supposed to be attached to anything? I do have the rear seat pass through.

Re: Passenger Side Blows Hot, Drivers Side Blows Ambient

I doubt it's pressure, more than likely it's the actuators. They shouldn't be too expensive. Andrew can probably hook it up.

You need to take apart the center console. Not especially difficult, but a little time consuming.
Is there a write up for that?

I pulled apart a lincoln dash to replace ...

Passenger Side Blows Hot, Drivers Side Blows Ambient

I've read a few threads, not sure if this is a low pressure situation or not.

And when I say hot, I mean you could boil an egg.

If it's the blend door, how hard is that to get to?

Thanks in advance.

Oops, just saw the common problems thread and there it was.

Now, how hard is it to pull that ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

Sounds like your car is coming along very well!

The acoustic foam on the underside of the carpet is really dense and holds water very well. Generally, it's recommended that the carpet be removed from the car and allowed to dry (sometimes for a couple of days in the sun - depending on climate) to ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

Next up was the trunk, so I put a hose in the channel and let water run around the gasket, and it turns out that down near the latch the gasket has gone bad and needs replacement. Can I reseal that with goop, or is it best to buy a new gasket? Haro, I see you sell parts, is that something that can ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

I just got the impression from your post it was in the foot wells as opposed to under the seat itself. That being the case, you are definitely not wrong in your thinking. In my car I discovered leaks from:

The trunk lid weather stripping.
Broken trim across the outside of the trunk, across the ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

That sucks! Normally the pass-through grommets are seated by pulling them from the opposite side. Unfortunately with the rear fascia installed it's not really possible to get to the other side. They can be a bit of a pain, but I've always been able to wiggle them and use a dull tipped tool to coax ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

As I'm sure you've noticed, the rear drains connect to the rubber pass-through grommet for the wiring harness where both exit the interior. You can pop the large rubber grommet out the sheet metal to look at the rubber duckbill like valve (built into the other side) and make sure it isn't clogged ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

Ok, so I pulled the seat and the C pillar panels. Neither was difficult, however getting the panels back on looks to be a PITA.
Replacing them is really quite easy. The yellow retainers typically end up staying in the sheet metal when you remove the panel (as you can see in the photo I posted ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

Sounds like the line itself is either pinched or still slightly clogged that it can't handle that brief volume of water. You're getting some water through it, but not a complete full stream out.

The sunroof assembly will never be perfectly sealed to the roof (there is no rubber gasket or other ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

They aren't metal clips, there are 2 yellow plastic retainers. I like to remove the weather stripping and then use a flat pry by to help pry against the upper clip. Once that one is out, you can pull the entire panel forward and the clip will release from the panel.

Seat back stays in place ...

Re: Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

Gently, yet forcefully pull. It might be useful to work your way around the entire trim piece, sorta loosening it in order to avoid leaving plastic stress marks or cracks from bending plastic.

They're just very stubborn metal clips.

Grip tightly and yank, got it. ;)

Steps to remove the C pillar body moulding in 2001 SSEI

I have water on both sides of floor in the back and the passengers side floor in the front. I found the thread about the sun roof drains and their locations, but there isn't any step by step info on how to take the back interior out to get to the drains.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, that's what I figured, given where it is.

Thanks for the replies, mechanic wanted north of 200 for the work (660 to do valve covers, about that much for the LIM).

Guess I have a weekend planned....
