Re: Torque Converter replacement.... #3

Yes you're right. The internals are different.
I notice it's a lot peppier now. Almost like lower gears.
Revs about 500 rpm higher stall....... 3000 rpm...... it used to be 2500 rpm stall.
Wow it really burns rubber now!!
It also seems to have more power now in the upper rpm all the way to 6000 ...

Re: Torque Converter replacement.... #3

My surprise was having the 258mm instead of the 245mm which I thought was standard for the supercharged version of the 3.8L

So that means the 245mm was standard in the NA 3.8L
I thought smaller equals higher stall. My stock stall speed was 2400 rpm.
Confused!
Are there any gurus left on this forum ...

Torque Converter replacement.... #3

So after only 4 years and 8,000 kms my torque converter clutch locked up and failed throwing code PO742

This time instead of opting for a standard Canadian sourced unit, I ordered the ZZP 2500 rpm stall heavy duty unit from the US.
Of course this doubled the cost of the unit due to shipping and ...

Re: The end of an era.

Well if you listen to the Democrats, we will all be forced to drive EV's in just a few years.
Anyone still driving gas engine vehicles will be forced to pay HUGE insurance costs...... but fuel will be dirt cheap!

The switch is not the problem. The ground inside the projector for the light dimming sensor is bad......there is a post for a fix.....

Re: Why Does The Press Hate on GM?

Because the bean counters don't want anyone keeping a car longer than the warranty or ten years max.
You know they only stock parts for 10 years then rely on the aftermarket.
Another reason.........just like why they hate Trump........it doesn't support the Liberal Capitalist agenda.
I can't buy ...

I don't think installing a 3.4" pulley with your mods will hurt.

Re: TransGo Shift Kit - AMAZING!!

I had the Intense shift kit installed years ago.
During my recent transmission overhaul, a TransGo shift kit was installed.
The torque converter had failed and the input piston was worn out. Total mileage was 45,000 miles.
It shifts fine now but the most noticeable change in shift quality came from ...

If you are frustrated it means you need a release usually the release is in the form of money out of your wallet.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Finally got it back after 3 weeks in the shop. This transmission guy really knows his stuff.
The new steering shaft tightened it up and can't feel any clunking or vibration.
Overall it's like I just drove it off the showroom floor. Note when I first bought this car it was on the showroom floor ...
