Re: Code 17 92 Bonnie

Old 92 has been running fine for a long time. Started getting SES with codes 17 31 and 42. If I shut it off and restart it right away, the SES disappears. Stop for any reason and restart, SES is back. Car runs "okay", but mileage is suffering. Does not stall at all, and holds highway speeds fine ...

Re: Ac issue, already searched...

My situation is similar. Heat and A/C work fine, blower could be better but is okay. What I get is simply colder air on the driver's side. Right now it's cold out, and during my commute to work, i never get any heat on my side, but the passenger side gets moderate heat. With A/C, driver is much ...

Re: increasing loss of acceleration

Update - over two months, and not a hitch. Starts perfectly, accelerates the way it should. Still getting around 24 mpg with 200K miles. If only the body were perfect... (I mean the car's, not mine) Fun to drive to work, and fun to tinker with.

Re: Bonneville ac

Related, but different. My 92 blows hot and cold appropriately, and volume is acceptable. But, the two vents on the driver side blow cooler than the 2 on the passenger side. On heat, the left two are warm, right two are hot. On AC, the left two are as cold as you'd expect, left two are not so cold ...

Re: increasing loss of acceleration

First thing I noticed was the fuel gauge is different, as if it's "synchronized" differently. It used to stay above full mark for a long time, now it falls off quickly. Just takes some getting used to.
No additional or different noises.
Fuel economy after a 200 mile test was 23.9 mpg, so no real ...

Re: increasing loss of acceleration

FINALLY got around to replacing the fuel pump and problem solved. Accelerates like it should. Haven't run through a full tank of gas yet, but suspect I'll be okay. I'm happy getting 23 or better on what I consider a full size car.
I did have to replace tank straps (bolt stripped, so cut straps and ...

Re: increasing loss of acceleration

Will do, but not right away. Shop is 20 miles in the other direction.... For some reason my boss won't give me the day off with pay to tinker. I've been replacing old crumbly vac hoses as i encounter them. Wish I were more of a mechanic. Anyway, thoughts:
EGR?
PCV?
vacuum leak?

Remember, this car ...

Re: increasing loss of acceleration

Update, 7/712

Changed out "distribution" plate under the coils. I did this at work and the car flew home, 42 miles, not a hitch.
Then today, okay as usual for about 20 miles, then started acting up, same as before.
Let it cool off and replaced the fuel regulator with a used one from a junker. No ...

increasing loss of acceleration

92 SE has been doing great. New problem recently, loss of acceleration. Car starts and runs fine when cold, like first time in the morning, 80 on the highway, no problem. 25 mpg, too. After about 20 minutes, I start getting slight loss of acceleration. I can hold speed, but not accelerate. Gets ...

Re: code 41 came shaft sensor

Update on Code 41. Finally got around to replacing the interupter magnet on the cam sensor. Mileage went from 17-18 to 24-25. I drive mostly highway, so that's probably as high as it'll go, but I'm very happy with that. And, no codes, none at all. Been a month now.
Replaced plugs, then plug wires ...

Re: Oil pressure gauge reading zero, sometimes.

Have a 92 with an OPS that will max out at times. Other times it's in normal range. No change in performance. Sensor? Where is it located? I can change it, but would like suggestions or feedback. Thanks folks.

Re: code 41 cam shaft sensor

Hi folks. I had two 87s back when they were new, or almost new at least. Really liked those cars. Now I have a 92 for driving to work. Picked it up cheap. Too much rust to call it pretty, but gets me there in comfort. Heck, I'm rusty too.... I've been repairing small problems, but could use a hand ...
