Re: PO401
No, operating temperature is normal and yes, I cleaned the passages thoroughly and checked the pipe for cracks.

PO401
My 2000 SSEi keeps throwing this code (insufficient EGR flow). Sometimes it will stay off for days or even weeks. Other times it will come on after a few miles. I`ve cleaned the EGR valve and the pipe passages and was wondering what I should do next.

Re: Transmission problems
If it does have a faulty pressure control solenoid will the TransGo kit remedy this or does the solenoid still have to be changed?

What exactly does the TransGo kit do that will cure my problem.

Transmission problems
The transmission in my 2000 SSEi shifts hard sometimes. I understand that there is some type of solenoid in the trans that sticks and causes the pressure to build too much. I`ve been told that this is a common problem and that there is no guarantee that a new solenoid won`t eventually do the same ...

Exhaust repair question
I`ve got a 2000 SSEi and the connection between the front pipe and the cat is shot. Does anyone make a repair kit and if not what is the least expensive way to repair without replacing the original mufflers, etc.?

About 600 RPMs.96 SSEi wrote:you sure there are no codes at all? pending codes can be useful to detect the issue.
you can clean the IAC valve - right below maf on front of TB.
what rpm are you at idle, full operating temp - 200f? in park and in gear.

Re: Yet another surging problem question
It`s a steady surge, will do it uphill or on flat ground if I`m accelerating. I usually make it stop by either lifting off the pedal or downshifting into passing gear. It will do it in both OD and Drive.
I`ve scanned it on several occasions, no codes.

Yet another surging problem question
As some of you may know, I have been trying to solve the dreaded surging problem for some time now. New plugs, wires, used ignition module and coils, and fuel filter. I have now found that it still surges while the transmission is in Drive. Does this help to eliminate any of the causes of the ...

Re: Surging problem
I disconnected my MAF sensor to see if that was the problem. Although it still surged slightly, it wasn`t nearly as pronounced as when it was plugged in.
Also, it didn`t want to idle and even stalled once as I slowed down to stop.
If the MAF is bad, will the car still surge with it disconnected ...

Thanks MKMike.
That answers my question perfectly.
This may seem like a stupid question, but does it matter which nipple that hose is on??

Missing vacuum line or not??
Bear with me, I can`t take pictures but will try to describe this as best as I can.
2000 SSEi. There is a vacuum operated switch(?) on the front of the motor on the drivers side. It has an electrical connection and a line that goes to an arm that goes into the upper intake. There is a vacuum line ...

Surging problem
Yes, My 2000 SSEi has the dreaded surging issue. However, it will do it in Drive as well as overdrive.
Also, I don`t necessarily need to be going uphill. it happens quite often as I enter the highway and go to accelerate into traffic. By letting up a little on the gas or letting it shift up, it ...

Yep, that`s what came out, even has a factory part number.haro1225 wrote:Is that what you took out? Someone could have put those in there, the OE plug should be iridium. AC delco number 41-101.
So you recommend replacing with the 41-101??

Spark plug confusion
The original plugs in my 2000 SSEi were AC 41-921 which I am told is a double platinum plug. I have also read that I shouldn`t use platinum plugs. So I shouldn`t replace my plugs with what came in the car originally??
What is the general consensus for what I should use as a replacement. I usually ...

Re: Question about Napa spark plug wire part number
I just finished installing the Belden Premium wires specific to the 2000 and they were EXACTLY the same length as the original wires.
