Re: need to replace my 03 SSEI - recommendations?

I have a 2011 Taurus SHO. Love it, been pretty good to me so far. There is a good group of guys on Ecoboostperformanceforum that are pushing the bar for these cars and know their stuff. Do some research, like every car it has its quirks. Not nearly what I had to deal with in comparison to my GXP ...

Re: Trying out something different... New Car!

Can't believe I didn't post pictures of the SHO. This was from last fall, although when Spring decides to show up and stay I have some work to do. H&R springs, Livernois Tune, thermostat, and catless downpipe all waiting to go in! Unfortunately, the GXP is gone. Had a good offer from the local ...

Re: Trying out something different... New Car!

Long story short, the GXP was pelted with hail this summer. I paid my $100 comp deductible to get $2100 to fix the damage. It really wasn't that bad, with the only noticeable dents on the hood and front fender. I think the dealership that sent the quote to my insurance company worked really hard to ...

Re: I'd rather push a chevy and drive a ford

I have found with my F-150 over the past few years, they are a well built truck. My '01 XLT has 150,000 miles on it and runs perfect. No ticks, no oil loss, no leaks, and plenty of torque from the ol' 5.4. It's been flawless and this thing gets abused on a regular basis. Hard to beat the F-150 ...

Re: 02 F150 hard start/rough idle

I guess I would try cycling the key a few times before you start it. The fuel pump may not be holding the pressure in the line so the fuel bleeds away from the injectors. Could also be the injectors not holding pressure and bleeding into the motor. I have seen this issue on several forums, but never ...

Re: Hello!

It is a Northstar engine, mated to a 4T80 transmission. The 4T80 was specifically designed for the Cadillac Northstar engine in 1993, and continued to be used until 2011 on virtually all Northstar front wheel drive vehicles. The transmission is not the problem with these cars. It has been proven one ...

Re: 2003 SSEi- update pg 3

I've achieved the 500 mile mark in the GXP. If I remember right the DIC said 26.6mpg at fill up. This was all highway miles, on 55-65 mph roads. I could have gone a bit further, but that would have got a little to edgy. Therefore, there is no reason your SSEI couldn't make 500 miles on a tank. On an ...

They go for no more than $9k here. See them with low mileage quite often as they are often Sunday drivers for some older folks.

J&R out of Sioux Falls I'm guessing? They always have a lot of Bonnevilles, Grand Prixs, Impalas, etc.

Re: GXP bogging down/idling rough

I don't understand how all of a sudden this thing hates water. I have been washing the engine bay for almost 2 years with soap and water, and now even if it rains the darn thing is throwing fits. Drives me nuts.

Re: GXP bogging down/idling rough

While I was at work the other day it rained really hard for a few hours. When I went to leave the car ran fine, then when I began to accelerate it started coughing. It's definitely not firing on one or more cylinders as it sounds horrible and bogs way down. The SES light flashed at me until I quite ...

Re: Things you discover while washing/detailing your car

I have found more than I ever wanted too. From repainted areas to places that have been repaired, I never seem to find good stuff. Except the time I found a magnetic ACDelco flashlight stuck inside the fender well! Score! Still use that light to this day haha.

Re: GXP bogging down/idling rough

I'll have to look into that a bit more next time I wash it to see what gets wet when I wash the exterior. I have washed the engine bay repeatedly and never had trouble. It shouldn't be MAF or air intake, but I'll check that too. When it was having issues it sounded like fuel was just getting dumped ...

Re: Gas tank

I had left Vermillion SD when the DIC said 90 miles to empty, thinking that should be plenty to make a 60 mile trek to Sioux Falls. Then I got to the Interstate and it dropped to 40. Wasn't too much later the gas gauge was sitting right at the center of the E. At this point the low range had been on ...

Re: GXP bogging down/idling rough

No SES light today. It seems to be running just fine so I don't know. It has to be something electrical I would think. I somewhat agree that it may be a COP. It's just weird that it has done this twice now in the past few times I've washed the car, but never before in the previous 2 years. I didn't ...

GXP bogging down/idling rough

This is the 2nd time this has happened. I think it is occurring after I wash the car, as that is when it has happened both times. The car will start and run normal, but under acceleration it is bogging down and at WOT it feels like the car is running at half power. The SES light began blinking under ...
