Re: All switches on driver's door are dead

Master window switch is a common failure point, I'd recommend starting there. The corrosion of the data wire under the seat would give you opposite symptoms (master works and others don't).

So I pulled off the door panel and removed the switch. I took it apart thinking there would be contacts to ...

All switches on driver's door are dead

2002 SSEi... Got in the car yesterday and none of the switches on the drivers door work (window controls for all four doors, door locks, power mirrors, seat memory). All other doors can control their window. The passenger door can lock and unlock the doors.
Thinking the three days of rain we've had ...

Re: Voltage?!

I wouldn't worry. Mine is always between 14.3 and 14.7 depending on accessory load. If the battery is run down, I have seen it go to 14.9. I assume the regulator is trying to charge the battery faster in that case. Is your battery fully charged?

Air ride repair coupling

When I replaced my rear shocks a few months back, I couldn't get the air line out of the old shocks and had to cut the line at the shock. I have had the air ride disconnected since. While Googling for repair fittings, I came across this. It's listed for a GMC Yukon, but it's exactly the same shock ...

Re: Brake, ABS, and Traction light all on Code 1040

Well it start with the random ABS activation and "trac loss" light coming on. Then I started getting a wheel grease smell after driving for a while. Then the bearing moan started (probably because it burned all the grease out of the bearing).
I don't have a scanner to read body codes. The left front ...

Re: Brake, ABS, and Traction light all on Code 1040

About a year ago I had issues with the ABS and Traction Control lights coming on randomly. The Track Loss light would sometimes randomly flash and the ABS would activate for no reason when stopping. Turned out to be a bad front wheel bearing. Changed the wheel bearing and problem went away

Re: Rear shocks?

I saw the KYB SR4116 for like $100 and they come with the new mounts. And knowing how much of a pain pin end shocks can be, the new mounts make it look like and easy four bolt job.

Rear shocks?

I think I blew out a rear shock. Whenever I hit a bump with the right rear, I can feel the wheel "dribble" and the back end steps out a little bit. No clunking or anything.
I'm gonna climb underneath it tomorrow and see what I can find out.
I have noticed the air ride pump running longer than usual ...

Problem solved. Changed the switch and have oil pressure. Ended up using my giant pair of channel locks.

Re: Oil pressure gauge reads ZERO!

Yeah. Ordered the new switch and picking it up after work. Was just trying to avoid an hour of cursing and swearing crawling under the car after work. Done it before. Tight fit, but haven't done it enough times to justify buying a $15 socket. I either used an adjustable wrench or my giant ...

Oil pressure gauge reads ZERO!

Started car this morning to go to work and I get the "CHECK GAUGES - OIL PRESSURE" chime. Sure enough the gauge was at zero. The gauge cycled on power up but stayed at zero.
Yes, the car has oil. Not making any noises that would indicate no oil. I'm guessing bad oil pressure switch. Had one on the ...

Re: Low/soft brake pedal

Kinda figured I still had air in the system. Never bleed an antilock system before.
I'm guessing activating the ABS purges any air that might be in the module. Is using the vacuum hand pump sufficient?

Low/soft brake pedal

I recently had a brake line perforate on me for the second time.
Seeing how rusty and crusty the lines were after the first time, I purchased an Inline Tube line kit for the back brakes because I knew it was gonna happen again.
Last week I got the second leak. The piece that goes across the back of ...

Re: How to: 2000+ radio light fix tutorial (45pics)

Andrew, do you have a source for the other bulbs? I got the bulbs for the display off eBay. I can try looking there. I noticed in your original pics that you power up the bulbs with the radio apart. Where did you apply 12v to illuminate them? Would be nice to make sure they work before putting it ...

Re: How to: 2000+ radio light fix tutorial (45pics)

I recently changed the display bulbs and the face on my radio. The display looks perfect now. But the lower buttons no longer illuminate at night. Not sure what I did wrong.

Re: Guess this leak...Oil Pressure Sending Sensor?

Girlfriend's LeSabre had the pegged oil pressure gauge problem. Then one day it started using oil. When I changed the oil, I changed the pressure sender (it's right above the oil filter). It was pretty slimy so I suspect it was leaking. Engine hasn't used any oil since.
It was a bit of a pain, but ...

Re: Stalling issue.

When you say the car won't start after stalling, what does the car do? Does all seem normal except the starter won't engage when key is turned to START? I had bizarre electrical issues last winter. Car would randomly "not start" sometimes and start fine others. Then it started shutting off while ...

Re: Strange Drivability Issue

Surprised it hasn't thrown a code.
Girlfriend has an '02 LeSabre that had a similar issue. Would stall at idle and buck at partial throttle. Turned out to be the MAF sensor. Easy test is to unplug the sensor and see if the problem goes away.
Scored a new Hitachi MAF on Amazon for a little more than ...

Re: Front Valve Cover Gaskets?

May want to do both while you're at it. If the front one is leaking, the rear probably is too. The front gasket is easy and will take less than a half hour. The rear gasket is another story. Took me about and hour.
Felpro is good. When I did the back one I had to use a few dabs if RTV to hold the ...
