But they may have been replaced with non-OEM units. There are no "custom" headlights like are available for other vehicles.
I understand now. I believe the headlights are original from the factory.
Could that be the HVAC drip tube (attached to front of dash)? I've found those in my driveway ...

Part identification...looks like a question mark! 2001 SLE
I found this part where the Bonneville is usually parked on the driveway. It was under the right side of the engine.
It appears to be some sort of breather vent, there's some mesh inside.
Can anyone tell me where it goes? I couldn't see anywhere obvious that it would go but I don't look very long ...

The noise is not a metal on metal noise, it's more of a thump.
I took it all apart again and put brake grease on everything. I also investigated getting new caliper pins, but they don't seem to be available. I guess there was some sort of change? They look like this:

Re: Knock while braking after front pads/rotor change '01 SL
I think so...how could I tell if they were not?
If they weren't seated correctly I would assume you would have some bad steering wheel shake when you hit the brakes.
The knocking nosie could be the dust shield hitting the rotor. I remeber when I changed mine out I had the same nosie from the left ...

Knock while braking after front pads/rotor change '01 SLE
Hi,
I replaced the front pads and rotors on my wife's car last weekend, a 2001 Bonneville SLE. That was an adventure all by itself, significantly "enhanced" by getting the wrong sized rotors (too small) from NAPA, then discovering said fact after they closed for a few days. It also took quite a ...

I got a much better angle on it at the in-laws, where I could get underneath, but we didn't have a flare wrench or anything similar.
I had to give up :(
but it is fixed now.

I'm having some problems with this, not fun!
I don't have to remove the power steering pump pulley to take the hose off, do I?

Power steering fluid capacity
My Bonneville is covering my driveway with power steering fluid at the moment which is rather annoying. It seems to be leaking out of the high pressure hose (right under the pump) so I am planning to replace the hose in the morning.
I was wondering if anyone had an idea how much power steering ...

Re: P0102: Mass Air Flow Circuit Low Input solved, now P0171
Well, the check engine light was gone but came back!
I did clean the sensor but that made no appreciable difference. From what I could tell based on sensor readings, the sensor was simply giving out bad data. The connector looked okay with no apparent damage.

The light came on about 10 seconds after I unplugged it. Engine idle did not change significantly, but might have gotten a bit rougher.00Beast wrote:What happens when you unplug the MAF?

Re: P0102: Mass Air Flow Circuit Low Input
Thank you for the advice. I will try tapping the MAF sensor tonight (hopefully) and see if that sets a code immediately.
I will attempt to clean the MAF sensor but it might have to wait until the weekend.
I forgot to mention that the Bonneville has about 200 000 kms.

P0102: Mass Air Flow Circuit Low Input
The check engine light came on a few weeks ago. And it even went away by itself once or twice but seems to be quite persistent now!
I got the codes that were there by using my Car Chip. It is a OBD2 data logger which is capable of reading codes, resetting the check engine light, and logging various ...

Re: Rear Shocks
In the interest of I can get the mount now (no garage and nice weather  ), I ended up getting a Monroe mount from Partsource yesterday. Replacement took about 45 minutes. The only thing that gave me a short pause was unhooking the air line to make the shock short enough to get the old mount ...

Hi everyone,
We have a 2001 Bonneville SLE. My parents got a new car and we got it to replace my wife's Cavalier. So she gets to drive it and I'm stuck driving my Saturn. It has better fuel economy, but I can't really pass anyone on the highway.
As with any older car, some things are slowly ...

The rubber inside that mount you linked has collapsed. Don't get Gabriel or Monroe mounts, they don't last. Get the Moog's.
Using http://www.rockauto.com as a guide;
MOOG Part # K5341 for the Mounts
MONROE Part # MA822 for the shocks.

Re: Rear Shocks
That's a great video, that's what I imagine is going on with mine! There is a gap between the rubber and the concave washer when the car is at rest, just like in the video.
