I just had a pulley fail for the Supercharger belt on my 98 SSEi, and I believe this one is called the Smooth Idler Pulley. In the following image, it's #9

Has anyone actually replaced this before? I came across this lengthy ...

Re: Re-attaching the Muffler Heat Shield
The guy at the auto parts store was no help... Seemed to have no idea! Guess I'm probably going to get a rivet tool and some rivets!
One weird thing: it seems like the heat shield has 4 obvious holes to use, but there only appears to be 2 holes in the car for it to attach... wtf?

Re-attaching the Muffler Heat Shield
Hey guys,
Just replaced my entire exhaust successfully, but in doing so the last of the crappy plastic rivet things that holds this large heat shield in place broke and now there's nothing to attach it with.
I assume I can just get new rivet things, but here are my questions:
1. How do I know ...

Re: A/C and Airflow Problems in '98 SSEI
Update:
My air mix actuator was definitely bad, I replaced it and the air mix works great now. I also replaced the blower motor, which was pretty bad. Mice had gotten in, chewed it up, and nested in there. Additionally, the vents near the motor were all plugged up with mouse nests, I cleaned that ...

Re: Will I need to Replace my AC Unit? (98 Bonneville ssei)
Would the oil be pooling there even without any freon in the system?? I want to make sure I would be able to see that BEFORE I recharge it, as opposed to after, so I know what I'm looking for!

Will I need to Replace my AC Unit? (98 Bonneville ssei)
So I've been fixing things to get my AC working, and I'm on a roll replacing bad a bad Air Mix Actuator and Blower Motor, and now I can blast neutral air from all vents. (Constant, HOT air last summer was brutal).
Years ago, the vehicle sat unused for like 5 years, and at some point the freon went ...

Re: Extra Box on Fuel Pump Wires - Is it Important?
Well I've since put everything in the tank and installed the tank back in the car. Some of the quick connects on the fuel lines were totally destroyed because the lines rusted up inside them, so that was a hassle but... It's finished!
And as far as I can tell, there is no downside to not having ...

Extra Box on Fuel Pump Wires - Is it Important?
I am replacing the whole unit that the fuel pump is attached to. On the old one, there is a box in the middle of the wires coming from the top of the gas tank and connecting to the fuel pump. On the new one, this box does not exist.
In the image, this box is circled in red. The fuel pump itself is ...

Re: A/C and Airflow Problems in '98 SSEI
I agree that a low charge of refrigerant is the most likely cause for the compressor not working. If it is low, you could charge it and see if it holds. If it leaks down again, you'll have to find where it is leaking and fix it.
For the airflow problem, try this procedure from Techinfo.

A/C and Airflow Problems in '98 SSEI
My main problem right now is that the AC does not work at all. The pulley on the compressor is spinning fine, but the compressor never clicks on. I don't know a lot of the technical names for everything, but I think the clutch is never engaging, though I am able to manually spin the AC compressor ...

Re: 98 Bonny SSEI: No Power
So I took it for a spin today and plugged in my OBD reader, hoping it would finally give some more useful readings. It did! Cylinder 2 misfiring. I take a look under the hood, check around... The spark plug wire for cylinder 2 was slipped off a little bit on the spark plug itself. I am not sure at ...

Re: 98 Bonny SSEI: No Power
SOLUTION FOUND (to 90% of the problem anyway): It was the ignition control module. Replaced with one from the junkyard and BOOM. Good as new! Still misfires a bit in the midrange, I think an injector or two is still bad, But it is literally TEN TIMES better. It is probably 85% of its new self ...

Re: 98 Bonny SSEI: No Power
Definitely check/replace the fuel pressure regulator. Check/clean ALL ground and positive connections, including the battery connections. New pos and neg cables would not be a bad idea. Run a new ground wire from bat to engine block. Check the connection at your HVAC blower motor--my 94 n/a had a ...

Reverse-Post set-up makes car run better
98 bonnie SSEI. I actually have the wires for each coil plugged in reverse order. IE, instead of 145236, it is 412563. Why do I have it that way? Because if I have it the *correct* way, the car runs EXTREMELY poorly. it idles okay... but any gas and it either dies or has an extremely tough time ...

Well I am in the band the first cliche, and we play sometimes at the pub. Most of my friends are in it but you might know some of them. Jamison Murphy, Grant Gibeau, Ben Crist, Matt Peterson, Joel Stanek... And I know a handful of other people too, but mostly just from being up there

Re: 98 Bonny SSEI: No Power
So I have found out something interesting... I had recently tested all my coils and found out that one was not working properly. So I did the logical thing and replaced it with a new one. But I never remembered to test the new one at all, until today. It still isn't working. The others still work ...
