Re: R.I.P. 2000 SSEi

Over the course of my life I've owned eight Pontiacs, and each one has been a better
machine than the last. This one takes the cake! I can't believe how well it handles. It took me about three weeks to find it after looking all over the internet. Several were gone when I went to look at them. Thanks ...

Re: R.I.P. 2000 SSEi

OK Gentlemen, here are the pics, or at least I hope so? Let me know what you think, I'm sure you will anyway. Hope they come out. I see a reflection of myself in a couple shots, and my wife and daughter in one.

Re: R.I.P. 2000 SSEi

Just an update to my tire situation.
Found the previous owners name, phone number and address on the GPS he had installed in the center of the upper dash on the G8. Called him and it turns out he's a doctor and he had bought wheels and winter tires for the G8. I went to meet him to pick-up the ...

Re: R.I.P. 2000 SSEi

I took some measurements and the fronts are almost touching now. Called the "Tire Rack" help line, they said the backs might work, but the fronts wouldn't. I'm trying not to spend
too much more dough right now. Keep the wife reasonably happy?

Re: R.I.P. 2000 SSEi

I came across a set of NEW Bridgestone Blizzaks I can pick-up for $544.00. They are
265x35x19", (current 245x40x19") This makes them about 1" wider and only -1.5% smaller diameter. I've looked everywhere to see if they'll fit on the G8 without issues, but can't find any info. Anybody know where I ...

Here is the link to the Varex X-Force web site with video of how the system works.

Winter tires are on the top of my list. So far everywhere I look, the price of 19" winter tires is outrageous. "I'm on a mission from God".

R.I.P. 2000 SSEi

Not sure if this is the place to talk about this, if not excuse me.
Well, I Had to let the Black SSEi go. Too many issues to deal with on a regular basis, ie. trans,
computer, sensors, etc. Not easy to do, but it was time.
Left it in trade at the Jaguar Dealer for a 2009 G8 Gt. Black w/tinted ...

Re: Trans not upshifting...

No, I don't hear anything unusual. After driving for about 20 minutes today, the SEL went out, and all appears well. But the outside temp is much lower today than it has been for the past few weeks.

Re: Trans not upshifting...

It's been several days now, and the problem of shifting is intermittant. It only occurs after I have been driving for quite awhile. The SEL light will come on and the trans will not upshift properly, and will sometimes not downshift properly. After letting the car sit and cool awhile, all seems ok ...

Re: Trans not upshifting...

I'll check it out. If it's bad, I'm only out $35.00 for a new one.
By the way, I get your point about calling the Advance Auto guy a tech, but I have to say he knew more than all the parts counter guys I have ever encountered.
Most give me a look that says, "I have no idea what to say, or what you ...

Re: Trans not upshifting...

Randall,

I just got back from Advance Auto. They scanned a Throttle Position Sensor issue. According to the tech there, this can wear overtime in certain positions where a majority of the driving is done, ie. 35-45 mph. This will cause issues where the computer is not sure what your doing and not ...

Trans not upshifting...

I'm driving along all morning very slowly due the subdivisions I'm in. Get on the Interstate and
only do about 60-65 for 20 miles or so. Back to slow driving around town, and suddenly the service engine light comes on, and the next thing I know it dosen't want to upshift unless I let off the gas ...

This was so easy, I couldn't believe it! I wonder how many people have been told they
need a new motor? Thanks again.

Re: How to R&R a water pump?

Thanks for the link Mark.
Actually I did the job this afternoon and it took me about 2 hours. Picked up a new pump at Pep Boys for $36.00. Most of my time was spent on the removal and cleaning the gasket surfaces. Went back together in nothing flat.
I found removing a couple of the pulleys made ...
