When I got my 2002 Bonneville about 18 months ago, it was boarderline scary to drive at high speeds (re: shaking). I replaced parts every couple months when I had enough $ to do so. It gradually got better, but nothing has completely nipped the "shaking" issue in the bud.

Re: Question about replacing HVAC controls...
00Beast - thanks for the quick answer!
That makes sense. I figured swapping out the control unit and instantly getting digital/separate climates was too good to be true. And, as much as I'd love to have harofreak00 refurbish the one i have, I'm not in a position to drive around Wisconsin in ...

Question about replacing HVAC controls...
Hey guys - I appreciate all the help on my sometimes silly car questions. I bought my 2002 SE in June 2010 for $3200 and it's been a complete boondoggle. Had I not done some of the repairs myself with the aid of this forum , I would've easily matched that initial price in repair costs within the ...

Update: As I sit on the side of the road again, 5 miles from where I just left, I can tell you -- It's not the MAF.

intermittent sputtering / won't start issue - please advise
Hello everyone. I've been having an issue over the weekend with some intermittent sputtering, and it's only gotten worse. Now it's killing the engine.
It started Friday night about 8 hours / 20 miles after I filled the tank about 3/4 full. The next day, knowing I was overdue for an oil/fluid change ...

Re: Yet Another Aftermarket HU -into- 00+ thread
UPDATE: I looked up some instructions on how to test a car stereo off of a 12v computer supply.
My HU is fine.
I ran the red, yellow and orange directly to the yellow on the 12v supply and everything fired up fine. Lights, CDs and everything. Now, why doesn't it work in my Bonneville?

Re: Yet Another Aftermarket HU -into- 00+ thread
I've read a handful of posts on here that suggest the "no sound" problem on Monsoon systems = the power amp needing an auxiliary power switch/supply. I'm being lazy now but I'm sure you'll find them.
No, the theft lock is not on with the original factory HU. I put it right back in once I hit the ...

Re: Yet Another Aftermarket HU -into- 00+ thread
Well, I harvested the HU from my old car about a year ago. It was only about 6 months old when my transmission dropped and I got the 02 Bonneville. It sat in a box on a shelf inside my house since then. It definitely worked the last time I hooked it up.

Yet Another Aftermarket HU -into- 00+ thread
Hey cats... here's my plight.
Car: 2002 SE. (no premium audio)
HU: Sony CDX-GT630UI.
Harness: Scosche GM07B ("the cheap one")
Problem:
I got everything wired up color-to-color.
The deck is getting power. I know this because Compact Discs will eat/eject in the HU.
BUT... No sound. No lights ...

Re: Power Door Locks: Lock, but don't Unlock
Just making one last post before I start replacing parts.
Recap:
So, since I bought the car, it has had some odd electrical issues. The power lock switches both would lock doors, but wouldn't unlock doors. Also, my locks have a habit of "flickering" locked/unlocked EITHER the morning after it ...

Re: Power Door Locks: Lock, but don't Unlock
I'm giving this topic a "bump" because my problem just changed, and now it's a lot more annoying so I want to get it fixed soon.
New info:
I realized this spring that my driver side floor is getting extremely wet every time it rains.
It seems like the top of the door isn't sealing right because ...

Re: Violent ride
This sounds similar to the problems I'm having with my 2002 SE (122k mi), though I don't claim to be hitting my head on the ceiling or anything
When I catch a bump just right at highway speeds (ex: bridge seam), it feels like my car lifts up and the back-end kind of jerks to the left. It ...

friend's 97 Sunfire won't shift into park -can't get key out
Hey guys, you've all been really great with giving me tips on my Bonneville.. I thought maybe you can help me give a friend some advice.

Re: 2002 SE - driver side mirror.
Ok, I got it figured out over the weekend. The problem was that I lost the tabs when my original mirror came flying out of the shell and onto the road, so that's why this wasn't 100% obvious to me right away. For that, I'm thankful I just happened to find the entire OEM mirror assembly on eBay ...

Re: 2002 SE - driver side mirror.
Thanks for the tip. I knew this was a fairly brainless matter (much like how I clipped that stupid sign) but I just needed someone to explain it to me. The center pin was pretty easy to get connected on there, but is there a trick to getting the smaller/secondary control tabs popped in?
Thanks ...

Re: Power Door Locks: Lock, but don't Unlock
wow, all great tips. thank you so much for the info. I think the most tangible solution is to check the unlock relay... I'll do that in the next couple of days and will let you know what I find. The other two sound like potential projects, and since I just entered my senior year in college, I don't ...

Power Door Locks: Lock, but don't Unlock
Hey everyone - I've read a plethora of posts on here for electrical problems, and several of them mentioned this specifically, but it was always buried by so many other problems that (as far as I could see) it was never directly addressed.

Re: Poll: How many 00-05's have the 70mph death shake/shimmy?
Definitely have this issue, amongst others on my 2002 SE that I bought in June. Brought it to the mechanic and he attributed it to bent tie rod ends... This very well could be (haven't replaced them yet), but from what I've read I can't imagine bent tie rod ends would cause the WHOLE CAR to shake ...
