Re: 99' SSEI Project
Looks good - I plan to replace the grey carpet in my '93 SSEi with new black carpet, so I will be gutting the interior too. What was the hardest part about the interior tear down?

Re: 93 SSEi got rear ended - need a bumper cover
I went today and looked at the gold car - there was a crack and a chunk out of it. So I will keep looking.
Anyone know how the rear bumper cover comes off? Do you get to the attachment hardware through the trunk?
(never mind - figured it out!)

Re: 93 SSEi got rear ended - need a bumper cover
I live in Kokomo and I visit the Junk yards in Indianapolis quite often. there is a 95 SSE at Pull a part right now. Its the wrong color but the correct style. I was there Tuesday and I will be going again tomorrow (today, Friday) I will post back and let you know if its still there (I think it is ...

Re: 93 SSEi got rear ended - need a bumper cover
I haven't had anyone (body shop) look at it yet - I will see what the insurance company says or where they send me. I would like to fix it but there are several places that are rather mangled - beyond what I can probably do and have it look decent.

Re: 93 SSEi got rear ended - need a bumper cover
I know I had a 93 parts car a while back and the rear bumper had a crack that had been patched but the guy was so happy to get that bumper even with the crack because he was smashed to heck.

Yep - checked there - no luck... Definitely a down side to driving a 20 year old car.

93 SSEi got rear ended - need a bumper cover
Wife got rear ended this morning in our black '93 SSEi. I crawled underneath and all the sheet metal looks undamaged. No trunk or tail light damage. Exhaust tips are broken, but I can weld them up.
I need a rear bumper cover and reflector set.

New TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) solved the problem
1993 SSEi. 86K miles.
I was getting these codes:
21 (TPS signal voltage high)
36 (transaxle shift control problem)
39 (torque converter clutch problem)
And some odd shift behavior a few times.
Changed the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and that seems to have solved the problem.

Re: 93 SSEi - mushy brakes - again...
I wondered about that - but the ABS light has been on for several months, so I assume it has been non-functional. I suppose air could still be trapped in there.J Wikoff wrote:Maybe there was air in the ABS module and it cycled, passing the air into the lines?

Re: 93 SSEi - mushy brakes - again...
The pedal mush continued - so I inspected the rear hardware again. No problems there.
I decided to make my own power bleeder. Got a spare cap and tapped it to fit my air fitting. Talked to a brake shop and they said they use 20 psi. It sort of worked, but I need to make a strap to hold the cap down ...

93 SSEi - mushy brakes - again...
93 SSEi - 82K miles.
Had problems off and on with the brakes - particularly after the car sits in storage for a season.
Changed the master cylinder (rebuilt from Advance) a few months ago.
Bench bled the MC. Bled the brakes & adjusted the rears.
A month or so later, mushy brakes. Bled again ...

Re: Radio swap from a '94 to a '93
I made some little metal posts to fix the steering wheel buttons - and they all work fine now. Not sure how long we will keep the Bonnevilles. The red one (94) is showing its age, and the black one (93) only has 80K miles, but of course it is going on 20 years now...

Re: Radio swap from a '94 to a '93
Thanks for the search - I tried, but depending on what search words you use, you may get a gazillion hits with little relevance, or two or three good ones...
The 93 has the fancy climate control (which I despise) and the 94 has the bare bones manual style (which I actually like).
But the swap ...

Radio swap from a '94 to a '93
I have a '94 Bonneville with a factory radio with the CD player.
I am ready to pass the car on to a relative and my '93 SSEi has the fancy radio with the equalizer and a tape deck (no CD). I would like to have the CD player in the '93.
Can I take the radio from the '94 and put it in the '93?

Re: no brakes!
the booster isn't too tough to replace. the toughest part is getting up under the dash behind the brake peddle to undo the 4 mounting bolts and brake peddle linkage, and taking the master cylinder off in the engine bay. probably have to take off the strut tower brace as well. i don't like doing it ...

Re: no brakes!
I am having similar problems on my 93 SSEi. Keep bleeding the brakes and they seem to be ok for a short while, then mushy pedal. I will try the booster suggestion tomorrow.
How hard is the booster to change?
