It has been years since I owned a Bonneville, at least 5 years now. I saved a lot of the content from over a decade ago however. We had a lot of fun back in the day.

Re: Which spark plugs?
Stock AC Delco 41-101 should be fine. NGK are not bad. Avoid Bosch. I'd stick with stock wires, most aftermarkets I've had have been poor quality.kennyz wrote:I`ve been told that the proper plug for a 2000 SSEi is an AC Delco 41-101 and an AC Delco 41-121. Which one is the proper one?

Re: 2000 Transmission Replacement
Thanks
Still trying to make up my mind if rebuilding this transmission is really worth it......
The more I look at the costs and other things that it will need like tires (half worn - performance 17" sizes are no longer available) and Stereo upgrade (+$1000), the more I want to sell it ...

Re: front end head scratcher
On my '01 SSEi, i have a terrible shaking in the steering wheel when I hit 60 MPH. If i take my foot off the gas, it gets worse until I get to about 50 MPH. If I turn slightly to the left it gets worse but if I turn slightly to the right, it almost goes away. I've moved tires all around and it ...

5) Gas Gauge all over the place. Need to fix/replace. Saw guide here on site. Attempting that when I get some more time and $.
Easy/Cheap fix here. I had to do this on 3 different 00+ SSEis I had. I made a guide back several years back on how to do it: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum ...

Re: Not even sure where to start
My SSEI was running great one day and like hell the next. When I start the car the gauges jump all over the place. Wont idle, cant drive it, if you give it will stay running anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes like this. it is almost as if the power is turning on and off. The part that is ...

Re: What engine oil do you use?
I'd recommend going with full synthetic. I'd also recommend changing the oil filter every 4k but the oil itself should last 8k miles or more.

SSEi inspired exhaust and headlights (Acura)
Picked this up earlier this week. 2013 TL in great shape. I've been interested in them since I got rid of my SSEi. To me, the Headlights and Exhaust tips are reminiscent of the SSEis. It seems about as fast too.

Re: totally redesigned website for Bonnevilles Unlimited
Looks Clean. My only suggestion is to work on moving it higher on the Google search results when someone searches for something such as "SSEI parts" or "Bonneville parts"

Re: How many miles do u have on your cars?
Just sold my 00 SSEi at 204k, original engine I believe, had trans done at 160k or so.
Some folks on here have broken the 300,000 mile club.
It would seem like most folks have the transmission starting to fail around 150k-180k, give or take. Pretty common to see 200k on the original motor ...

How much is a heck of a deal?
Saw a few 08 impalas with 100k go for $4k or so. Paid a little less than twice that for this truck, but then again its a truck with 4 wheel drive, so they are not as good as a deal, but still thousands less than blue book.

Either way, these surplus auctions seem to have some good buys. Saw a few 08 impalas with 100k go for $4k or so. Paid a little less than twice that for this truck, but then again its a truck with 4 wheel drive, so they are not as good as a deal, but still thousands less than blue book.

I'd rather push a chevy and drive a ford
Well, normally. I read a lot of horror stories about piston slap on the chevys along with AFM issues causing all sorts of expensive problems. Did some research on the fords, looks like the 3valve/cylinder have a fair share of issues. Ended up with a 4.6 2valve. Got a heck of a deal on it at a state ...

Re: Hockey puck mount. Good and bad.
I'm torn.
I had the hockey puck mount on the 01 with some bushings but still had some significant vibration.
On my current SSEi, I have gone through 2 mounts so far in the last couple years over 20,000 miles or so. The Anchor mounts seem to last 8000-12000 miles in my experience. Thankfully they ...
