Re: Rock Auto Discount Code
OOPS...Sorry about that. I did a search before posting, but I didn't have time to look through all the results...I just scrolled through the first page. I thought there was something like that on this site, but I wasn't sure if I was confusing it with another site.

Rock Auto Discount Code
Hey guys,
I recently had to put a new front axle in my wifes jeep. While I was in there I also put on a new oil pan, new lower control arms and all bushings, new lower ball joints, and new cam bolts. Anyway, my new friends at Rock Auto must have felt bad for me, so they sent me a discount code and ...

Re: amplifying the factory stereo 2000 ssei
is there an easier access to left and right channels in all the comotion bolted on the back of the rear seats?
Yes, tap the rear speaker wires at the rear speakers. No need to pull the dash apart.
The part is called a line output converter.

Re: Wont Stay Running
Sounds like maybe your alternator isn't putting out enough juice at idle to keep the car running AND charge your dead battery at the same time. The battery, until it acquires a little bit of charge, is probably drawing too much current from the alternator and taking away what the car needs in order ...

How old is your battery? You might want to have it tested to make sure there's not a bad cell or some other problem with it.

Re: Front and Rear Struts for Command Ride
most people just replace the struts with non-adjustable ones. Obviously, the CR functions stop working, but the argument is that newer struts are more versatile and just as good or better than the CR struts anyway.

Re: Headlights
I can say with confidence that the sensitivity to vibration is a myth. I drove my cavalier for quite a while after putting in silverstar bulbs on some of the worst dirt roads in Michigan, and they didn't fail. To make the scenario worse, both headlight housing mounts were damaged (one due to a deer ...

I put silverstar bulbs in my old 2000 cavalier before I gave it to my sister about 3 years ago. They're still in there and working.

Re: Hardwire Navigation
Be careful, and check the voltage output of your lighter adapter before you cut the lighter plug off and direct wire it..I think they are 5V output and not 12V. If your adapter output is 5V, your GPS unit will be damaged by direct wiring it to 12V. Your best bet is probably wiring in a new 12V ...

Yep, The adjustable struts are a completely separate system form the air leveling system. The front strut connectors being disconnected shouldn't have any affect on your rear air shocks.

Re: I think my VATS may have failed.
It's almost certain that there was one at one time. It may even still be there. You;ll have to dig around under the dash and look for the remote start module...but more importantly, look for that yellow wire and the resistor pack so that you can fix your problem.

Re: I think my VATS may have failed.
Well, he said that the cad "HAD" a remote start. I assume by that he means that it doesn't anymore, so it may be more difficult to find that resistor pack.

Re: I think my VATS may have failed.
Yeah, he can do that, but the ignition cylinder is no longer part of the VATS circuit, so it really doesn't matter of the resistance it there or not.

Re: I think my VATS may have failed.
So, I assume that what you're seeing is the end of the orange wire coming FROM the ignition cylinder. You most definately have the VATS bypassed, which means that you can forget pretty much everything that was posted previously except for the link that spoiledred94 posted.

Re: I think my VATS may have failed.
When you say the orange wire has been cut, does that mean that it is currently in two pieces, or has it been re-connected? If it's currently in two pieces, then the VATS has been bypassed. In that case, your problem is in the resistor pack that the previous owner (or install shop) made.

I was going to take this in the direction of bad RCA grounds as well, but I wanted to let him reground the stereo first just for good measure.

Re: I think my VATS may have failed.
What Ryan described is exactly how my 2000 cavalier used to work. I'm not sure exactly how the security acts on pre-2000 models though. At any rate, the source of your problem could be as simple as dirty contacts on the key chip and in the lock cylinder.
