Re: Slipping Transmission

Could be many things...what's the mileage? How often has it been serviced? When's the last time you did a drain and fill with filter?

Re: random headgasket issue?

Don't wait...do this job. Make certain to change out the oil, even if you are sure it hasn't been affected. You're asking for bye-bye motor otherwise.

4T60-E Transmission cooling upgrade

B&M Transmission cooler installed, heat exchanger bypassed. I cut the lines at the end of the rubber where it goes back to metal infront of the radiator, barbed to the new cooler lines, presto.

4T60-E questions

My car has 209,600+. Engine and transmission are original...I've read that the transmission will run hotter as it's older, but as of now when it's 80+F out and I've done some in-town driving for about 10-15 minutes with extended idles before pulling onto the highway, the car sometimes kicks back out ...

Re: New condenser

I have to be honest in saying I don't know a single thing about this system. I was hoping to unplug old condenser, replace, plug new one in...drive to shop and vac & refill done. Can you be a bit more descriptive in these "seals" (as in where they are/what they are) and what PAG 150 is?

New condenser

My condenser, after tolerating 209k miles of driving, is very much bent and looking worn...I'd like to replace it with a new one. They are relatively cheap from what I see ($85 ish), I was wondering how hard it is to replace myself, knowing I'll need a vac/charge after.

Negative side cables

I'm going to be redoing the negative (ground) to top post, the stock obviously won't reach up there. I'm going to strap the close body ground with 1/0 gauge that I already have, could someone tell me where the other leads to? I see it going down towards the engine but I don't know exactly where. I ...

Re: To Buy, or Not To Buy?

"Engine should last you 400k", uhm wrong. There is absolutely zero guarantee of that...it depends when and if LIM failed, what was done to fix it, wear & tear, oil used, etc. They are very dependable, yes. I don't know how Canadian dollar converts to American, but I know $2,500 American would be a ...

Re: bad day

Check the UIM for the printed date on top. Make sure you inspect it before taking it for UIM/LIM possible failure signs.

Re: bad day

I would suggest 2 things:

One: http://www.lkqcorp.com/

Two: You can TRY a JY/Pick-n-Pull. I'd try to get some verification that the motor is indeed good first (checking coolant/oil etc) and what it costs/any warranty.
