Re: coolant temperature sensor, sending unit, or gauge?
I did replace that single wire sensor (coolant temperature sender) as well as the coolant temperature sensor. I took the coolant temperature sensor and swapped it out for another one as it was still under warranty. All fix. New coolant temperature sensor was faulty. Duralast.

Re: coolant temperature sensor, sending unit, or gauge?
*dang*. I traced the wires and just don't know. If I disconnect the sending unit, it just doesn't register anything. If I disconnect the coolant temperature sensor, nothing really changes. I wonder if that means it's the coolant sensor.

Re: coolant temperature sensor, sending unit, or gauge?
The gauge slowly climbs all the way up and stays there. It doesn't come back down til I shut off the engine. There's a coolant temperature sensor and a coolant temperature sending unit. It never did that before. It would stay at 0 and slowly climb as the engine warmed up and then stop. Another thing ...

coolant temperature sensor, sending unit, or gauge?
My temperature gauge starting shooting straight up to the highest point with the key at the "on" position and when running. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor, no change. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor again, no change. I replaced the coolant sending unit, change. The gauge no ...

Re: cranks but won't start
Thanks for that. Actually, I got it started last night. Turns out I messed up the spark plug wiring (It happens. Lot to be said for being patient and well rested). Re-wired it properly and used starting fluid. It was running pretty well (no more helicopter sound from air puffing out) but started to ...

cranks but won't start
1991 le overheated one night due to stuck thermostat. Front head gasket blew. Car still drove but sounded like a helicopter. I could feel air puffing out right by the exhaust manifold. Tried Blue Devil. No noticeable change. Added Lucas oil treatment, sprayed wd 40 in spark plug holes. Tried to ...
