Re: Window Channel Guides...

I just got back into the H-body platform and I have missed these cars! Great info here as I have been looking for this exact clip. My question and issue is one of these clips has been missing so long that the window has pushed the front of the channel itself out of the door. it is extremely brittle ...

Electronic Climate Control diagram needed - 1987 Park Avenue

Hi folks. I'm trying to troubleshoot my 87 Electra Park Avenue climate control. I was able to locate the broken wire in the exterior temp sensor, however now I need a readable manual to help troubleshoot the vacuum actuated parts of the system. I got pictures of the manual pages a long time ago ...

Ignition module failures, frustrating!

Hi folks. I got a question. Anyone else having problems getting good ignition modules?

Backstory: When I got my car on the road about 14 years ago, it had no ignition module on the junkyard engine I built up for the car. Bought a module (don't remember the brand) and it had constant cut-out and ...

Re: Ground locations for 1989 LeSabre...

Well.... I found the problem thanks to another enthusiast.

There is a one-circuit Weatherpack connector at the battery negative terminal. It seems to be the negative reference for the instrument cluster. While it was open, turning on the headlights and more specifically turning the instrument panel ...

Ground locations for 1989 LeSabre...

Hi, I'm working on my mom's 1989 LeSabre. The instrument cluster was not working correctly, and I found that none of the ground wires at the connectors on the dash harness have any continuity to chassis ground. They all have continuity to one another but not to ground. I don't see any ground point ...

Re: 1987 Park Avenue, no start / kickback / backfire...

Yikes. That is some serious wear.
Yes! It looks terrible. I got very lucky that it didn't totally break and bend all the valves. I've acquired several cars which were headed to scrap because of broken chain and bent valves.

The worn chain has been affecting the engine for a while. The idle and ...

Re: 1987 Park Avenue, no start / kickback / backfire...

I have some follow-up on this issue. The problem was a bad timing chain set. While the original plastic cam sprocket had been replaced at sometime in the past, the metal camshaft sprocket had suffered some form of severe and abnormal wear.

The pen mark on the masking tape is where the crankshaft ...

Re: 1987 Park Avenue, no start / kickback / backfire...

I would pull the cam sensor and make sure the magnet is still in the timing gear.

Thank you. I plan to put it in the shop once I make room. Got a Coke machine, a fridge, and another car with engine out of it in the shop now.
I think the timing chain may have skipped a tooth. Engine is 230,000 or ...

1987 Park Avenue, no start / kickback / backfire...

Got a technical question, and a non-running car.

I drove my 87 Park Avenue to town yesterday without issues. Parked it and tried to re-start after about 10 minutes. It would not start and acted like the plug wires were crossed, or it was out of time. It kicked back and backfired and never started ...

Re: ISO Wiring Diagram - Wipers Issue - 1987 Electra Park Av

I think I have a late 80's C or H body manual at home. I know I've got one for the '86, but that wiper motor is different. I'll check and see.

Thanks Matt. I appreciate it.

There's no hurry - I was able to fix the wiper motor. The problem was corrosion on the brushes, from sitting. This car sat ...

ISO Wiring Diagram - Wipers Issue - 1987 Electra Park Avenue

Hey folks. I am hopeful to get a wiring diagram for my 87 PA, including the windshield wipers switch and motor wiring.

I have been gradually fixing up this car as I have time to. It is a very rare 2-door model. So far I've had it painted, fixed a few small electrical problems, charged the A/C, and ...

Re: Window Channel Guides...

Hi Don - thanks so much! I found these online and the picture shows the correct part. I'm going to see if our local GM dealer has it. There are still a lot of older cars on the road here, so there's a chance.

Either way when I get it, I'll post a followup about the fitment. :)

Sincerely,
David ...

Window Channel Guides...

Good morning folks!

I have been searching (unsuccessfully) for window guides for our family's 1989 LeSabre. This is the plastic clip that locks into the hole in the rear edge of the window glass. It has a ridge that snaps into the window track channel, and keeps the window glass from falling ...

Broken transmission - 1989 Reatta - LN3 3800

Hey folks. I have a question and some pictured from an online friend. He has a 1989 Buick Reatta, which has a LN3 3800 and a 440T4 transmission.

The car had been driving nicely, and then one day the transmission started slipping. Owner found massive oil leakage, and topping up the transmission will ...

Re: 1989 LeSabre LN3 MAF trouble...

Good point about checking wiring. I have about 0.4Ω resistance between the MAF power negative terminal and the engine ground. Also there is about 0.8Ω between the MAF power positive and the battery positive cable (with key on and battery disconnected). The MAF signal wire ohms out good between the ...

Re: 1989 LeSabre LN3 MAF trouble...

Hi Randall. Thanks for the reply. Tomorrow I will check O2 with MAF unplugged, I didn't have laptop connected when driving it like that.

This early system really depends on the MAF as there is no MAP sensor. It runs alpha-N and is very badly impaired without MAF so I expect it will not run well at ...

1989 LeSabre LN3 MAF trouble...

Hello all. I'm a fairly new member here, although some of you will know me from other forums and IRL visits.

I've had to put aside my turbocharged cars and work in my mom's 89 LeSabre. I'll start with the backstory and then get to the MAF questions.

While I was out of town, the LeSabre developed ...
