I know it's been a few months, but it has been a busy summer. Parts and metal are starting to go back on the car, but we are far from done. I will have a bigger update to post soon, but right now, I want to show what I think is one of the more awesome things to have happened on this car: new metal ...

And now, the other reason why a lot of work was halted on my SSEi - there was a lot of work needed on my 05 GXP. When I purchased it, I knew it needed some work, but the car was driveable with only minor issues. It wasn't until I was headed home one day in the summer of 2019. Handling at 60mph ...

Yeah, I was originally looking at an older Civic or Corolla, but I saw this car, and was like "a platform I already know how to work on!". So, it became an easy choice.

One of the reasons I don't have the SSEi done, is because over the last 2 years, I've gotten side tracked by projects on two other cars that I own. One being the '05 GXP (there will be another post for that), and a 2003 Buick LeSabre that I purchased in Oct. 2019 to be my winter and replacement ...

I might look into Zero Rust as a solution for some of the rust issues on my rebuilds.

So, I missed the planned deadline for getting the SSEi done. So many other things came up, but Tim and I are back at it. I've shifted some plans for this car for another time (mostly dealing with engine and trans stuff), and decided to focus on the body, and having this car ...

I'm way behind on this, but I also didn't take any pictures this time.

All I have is video of some racing that took place on Matt's property. I should edit that and upload it one of these days.

I will be arriving with the official event.

As much as I don't really want to (as I don't want to work on my days off), I might plan to powder coat the GXP brakes. But, I think I'll have them prepped before the meet.

I've got some pics (and possibly some video) to post. Mine's mostly just random stuff, and not sure when I'll get the video, as I left the dash cam in the car, and it's parked no where near my home.

August 3, 2019 :

Tear down of the SSEi has started. Didn't get too far into it as other projects and tasks needed completed before this. But, Tim and I got the first look at the car behind the plastic, and it is not pretty.

Okay, here are the first round of progress pics. This was during the cutting and early rebuild phases. So, these show getting rid of the old metal and mostly working on designing the replacement piece for the fenders. As soon as I sort through them, I'll have pics of the rocker and interior ...

No hurry, since they are not critical to the car's operation. I'm still waiting on the c-pillar panels to be finished anyway.

And, at some point today I should be able to get some in progress pics posted.
