Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

I guess i did say i was open to idea's but i'll have to pass :P
I've been looking off and on today as breaks would allow for an LSD solution. No luck yet.
I also have to look what model my trans is, apparently Bonne's are different from GP's?

Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

Sadly guys I'm north of the border, that 3k budget turns to 2400 fast when duty and shipping and exchange come into play :sad5:

Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

Where I live it doesn't get any more flat and boring. Straight, and then more straight is all I get here. Where you're at Will, I envy you. I've always loved Bonneville's, I sold vehicles at a Pontiac dealer, and to this day, I still hold the record for most Bonneville's sold in one year. The ...

Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

Is there even an LSD still available for the 4t65? I know there used to be, but i can't find it. Got a link? :) Still just playing with the possibilities here. I am very cautious of acceleration out of corners and prefer to point and shoot. The car handles like bus so, I'm not canyon carving. I'm ...

Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

I've modded the car about as far as I'm willing to go, save maybe for an intercooler one day. That's the reason why i'm becoming concerned about the Trans. I've got to be riding that fine line where the reliability of the stock trans will be out the window after this upcoming tune.

Currently the ...

Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

You might be OK with a few hundred RPM's over stock, but not much, as far as stall speed. I'd keep stock stall, for driveability. Why are you putting in a new TC and other parts?

To tell you the truth I suppose I can't really answer that. I have yet to actually tune the car. When I parked it last ...

Re: Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

That is some solid advice Will. The car in it's present form has no trouble "blowing the tires off of it". It's capable of spinning right until the shift to 2nd at 50 or so mph. With the car being daily driven, and not afraid to back down from a challenge most of it's time will be spent off the ...

Final Drive Swap via Chain set ok for a 2k SSEi?

I've got a stock Trans for 00 SSEi, looking to beef up the Trans for some sticky tires and 2 or 3 track runs this year.
So far I'm looking at a new 245mm Torque converter, input shaft and a 7/8 single chain upgrade.
Also was looking at going to a 3.29 with that chain set swap. Any possible problems ...

Re: Hesitation under acel, then stall?

The only code I have is P0300, likely due to the XP cam, it was there before, so I don't believe it has anything to do with the issue. The car doesn't always stall out either. Sometimes it pulls like it did before, other times it bucks/hesitates under acceleration. When that occurs is when the ...

Re: Hesitation under acel, then stall?

got a new filter on the car, attempted to clean the MAF, the resistors, or what appears to be resistors seem to be intact, though the car is still hesitating, the MAF reading via the interceptor still appears erratic after any more than say, 30% throttle. A guy at work suggested cleaning the MAF ...

I do in fact still have the screen in, bout the only reason i even dare drive it out of necessity right now

Re: Hesitation under acel, then stall?

It didn't do that before the filter fell off, it ran well then. Noticed after driving tonight, that "normal" driving, the car operates fine. Anymore than about a half pedal acceleration causes the hesitation, and then the erratic MAF readings as if the car is confused by the excess intake air.

Hesitation under acel, then stall?

Recently rebuilt the engine on my Bonne. A few minor issues here and there but it's been running well for about 600km's now. Friday night i was driving home from a birthday party and managed to have the Cone filter on the end of the Fender well Intake remove itself. (I've yet to replace it.)

Since ...

A small update on the project. Managed to get the engine torn apart and well, it didn't look any better after I started cleaning it up :sad5:
I had intentions of replacing the cam anyway, but the stock one is shot, Lifters were thrown out, they all had some serious pitting...guess i need new ones ...

It is in fact illegal in Canada to disable DRL's or any other factory Safety feature, eg Airbags if the car was so equipped from the factory. Do so at your own risk!

Re: Project Bonneville Begins

I do plan on going with an Front Mount Intercooler aka Air to Air, but at this point I'm not just sure where it's going to be located. The Rad and Condenser are to close together, maybe only an inch apart, and most intercoolers are several inches thicker than that. My Dilemma though, is to keep the ...
