Ouch!

I was driving to work one morning and a deer decided he wanted to get hurt. Yikes.

Re: 95 SSEI oil pressure drop

Try replacing the pressure sensor. It went bad on my '98 and was leaking oil. Should fix it.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Well, today was a bittersweet day. Today was the last day I would be driving my Bonneville. It's sad to see the car I put so much work into go, but the engine cradle almost dropped on it on the way home from Maryland last summer. I had it fixed, but I knew the Bonneville wasn't going to last much ...

Maybe the EVAP core is blocked. Try inspecting the ductwork and the actuators.

Re: Instrument cluster & DIC on, then off, then on, then off

Sounds like a bad solder joint. From what I've heard it happens a lot with these gauge clusters. Usually you can just reflow the solder joints and it will come back.

Re: How to put navigation in a 92-99?

Yeah, don't think I'd be putting this in my bonne though, there would be an issue regarding the odometer. I could use some electrical magic to make the iPhone interface with the electronics in the cluster. If I knew how to code I could make an iPhone app to display that car diagram and retain all ...

I don't seem to have any problems with the bosch plugs in my bonneville, they've been running strong since 2006.

Re: How to put navigation in a 92-99?

The lens is still there, I just stuffed the iPhone behind there to see how it would look. All the circuit boards were removed so I could stuff it back there.

How to put navigation in a 92-99?

Had an extra cluster and an old iPhone 5 laying around, so I made this.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Fixed my "oh *shoot* handles" in the rear, the switches fell out before I got my hands on it and I broke the clips when I dropped the headliner.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI, former Bose stereo system

I think the 2000+ radios can detect if there's a bose amp installed or not, someone else please confirm this.
As long as the wiring is correct, the radio should be plug-n'-pray. Why's that? These radios require a Class II data bus connection which is provided by your car's body control module. On ...

Re: Installing a GM "Black tie" Radio in a '98 SE

The blacktie radio is slightly larger than double DIN actually, but you can easily make it fit. It would be interesting to see one of these in a Riviera. I'm assuming you'd like to match the backlight/display colors, so your best bet would be to pull one from a 2006-2013 Chevy Impala and purchase a ...

Re: Installing a GM "Black tie" Radio in a '98 SE

I relocated the XM antenna today. While mounting the antenna under the dash was simple, I was losing signal constantly. Mounting it up was pretty simple, just had to drop the headliner, drill a couple holes, route the cable, and bolt it in. Permatex was used to seal the whole thing up to prevent ...

Re: No sound...any advice from an audio expert??

I had a friend with an 05 Monte with the same problem, water got in the back and there was no sound. What happened was the 12 volt supply wire for the amp got corroded. You can confirm this by probing the 12 volt supply at the amp, if it's not around 12 volts that's the issue. If you don't have a ...

I am now the owner of the only 92-99 with OEM XM radio. (as far as I know)

All I had to do to get it working was to get the XM module, the antenna, and the pigtails. Some soldering and some electrical ...

Re: AC compressor Removal help

There's a bolt on the back of the compressor. I think you have to remove the lines to get to it. Also, I suggest you disconnect the battery as there's a live 12 volt feed to the starter close by.

Re: Installing a GM "Black tie" Radio in a '98 SE

Update: Got the steering wheel controls to work... sort of.

In order to get the steering wheel controls to function, I had to modify the wiring harness to tap off the radio's 10 volt reference line. The factory radio used a 12 volt reference which made the wheel controls act weird with the new ...
