Just looked at this and saw some red. What's going on here? I don't have a check engine light.

Started over on my O2 tuning by adjusting the MAF post-PE and again, for the second time, I'm nearing 22msec on my injectors...which I believe is max on stock injectors.

Replaced coils with MSD's and installed a new FPR. For now it seems to have stopped the popping/surging I described earlier.

Latest scan shows I get 1-3KR when I romp on it from a cruise and it decays fairly quickly. Also, I get up to 2KR during the 1 -> 2 shift. I noticed that my INJ B1 msec graph spiked to 20.0 during this KR. What does this mean?

This image shows the spike I'm talking about:

KR is still improved 10 fold. Might have this thread locked soon and start one specifically for my tuning methods.

you will almost always get a little KR when you get on the throttle while cruising. your converter is locked, and the car is not in PE mode, youre most likely getting 30+ degrees of timing at that point, which will give you KR

I may have discovered the holy grail to partial throttle KR, at least for my car.

It has to do with how quickly I enter an AFR of 11.8 and lies within the AFR related tables:
1.) PE Fuel Base vs ECT - still experimenting with this table. It can be left stock actually, but I'm experimenting in a slight increase to the cells above 68F.
2.) PE Fuel Adder vs TPS - LEAVE IT STOCK! Don't zero this out. That will just flash KR under partial throttle like a mother.
3.) PE Fuel Adder vs RPM vs TIME - This is the fun table and where I'm spending most of my time. I'm experimenting on gradually lowering the AFR to 11.8 once I hit 4000rpm. This seems to be a nice medium, but I'm also trying a more swift decrease to 11.8 as early as 800rpm. Keep in mind that this is only used while in PE mode, so such a scenario will never happen at those low rpms...I'm doing this for my own discoveries.

I'll have a lot more to talk about soon enough. I need to get more quality scans in with the 2 setups I'm trying.

Bottom line: What I am doing is improving partial throttle performance dramatically.

As far as seeing red on your DTC screen, have you cleared any codes or disconnected the battery recently? That just means your car has not gone through enough cycles for the emissions system to be at a ready state for testing. See also, you wouldn't pass emissions right now until your car goes through X amount of on/off cycles.

Ya I realized that a day after I posted that...didn't know anyone looks at this thread anymore.

I fixed partial throttle KR as well. I'll post the fix (for my car) later.

This is the only table I had to adjust under Power Enrichment to fix the bulk of my partial throttle KR:

Image

Its rather simple, because all this is doing is locking the AFR at 11.8. I left the other tables stock so that the AFR still eases down to 11.8 instead of a sudden drop.

I suppose I could get into AE tuning, but that stuff is way over my head and no one seems to have a guideline for it on a 3800. Besides, I still have some O2's to tweak before I can get to timing.

Hey Kyle, just a thought, I know you said you had your original PCM....have you tried putting the OE back in and writing your changes to it?

No, why... bad PCM you think?

Well, as an experiment, try putting in your original PCM and then load in all the changes you made from your current file to the original PCM. See what happens. I have a funny suspicion that since you and I have the same problem and the same PCM, there might be something there. Can't hurt to give it a try.

Will I need to perform a CASE learn on the stock PCM when I put it back in?

Yes. I was told that anytime you physically disconnect the PCM, you will need to do a CASE learn.

I sound dumb for asking, but can my HPTuner or the Autoforce perform a CASE learn? I honestly don't know.

Both can. Oh and it's Aeroforce, not Autoforce, nor to be confused with Autotap, which I believe can also do the CASE learn.

AutoTap can't or couldn't case learn a couple years back
AutoEnginuity could
Aeroforce can if you have gotten the newer gauge or updated yours
HPT and DHP can.

Meant Aeroforce, typo.

Where do I perform the CASE learn from? I'm guessing the DTC window?

Which one?
HPT - I think it's the DTC window. It's the same one where you can reset your fuel trims.
Scangauge - It's in the menu screens. If you can't find it, I'm un-subscribing this thread.
