Alrighty fellers I need some help with this one, 02 Pontiac Bonneville SE no start nothing no noise no nothing (back story)
So the ol girl has been sitting for a few months and I had been regularly starting her but last month I got hurt and wasn't able to do anything with the cars and I forgot to start them, get well enough to do that and I go to start it and nothing dead battery okay so I put a charger on it and let it charge the weekend that goes well and it starts up but then it idles out of gas and dies, okay that's fine, wait about 2 weeks to get it some gas, pour in gas and go to start it nothing so I put the charger back on it, charger indicates it's good after a few days so I try to start it key on everything comes to life key to start and everything dies no nothing no instrument cluster radio nothing back to on battery voltage on the cluster reads a little over 8 so I think it's getting cooler at night (58°) so I think that the battery is just done (07/14) so I buy a new battery today drop it in go to crank it and same thing happens. Put a volt meter on the battery it currently says 12.40V so I tossed the charger on the new battery and come to ask for ideas,
Info on battery is 800CCA 10/21

TIA for ideas

I would start with the battery cables. Check both ends of both cables to make sure there's no loose connections or corrosion causing poor contact. Check where the cable end connects to the cable itself for corrosion.

Just because you have 12v doesn't mean you have enough current to run the car. I agree to check ALL the connections, positive and negative. Literally pull back the protective boots and look at the wire.

I've done that as well as clean all of the terminals, still nothing.

Have you had a look to see if a wire has simply fallen off the starter motor?
Another possibility is the fuel pump sitting dry for two weeks hasn't done it any favours, there may an interface in the ecu that will not allow cranking if there is no fuel pressure. Can you hear the pump operate when you switch on the ignition?

Roger.

With the key in run, have you tried to jump the +12v terminal to the signal terminal on the starter?

Starter has been tested good according to the tech 2 the transmission thinks it's in 3rd gear, gonna do more digging on that tomorrow.
