 Post subject: Power steering hoses

Year and Trim: 2002 se
Looking to replace the power steering hoses on my 2002 se. what kind of job am I looking at? anybody that has done this job any insight would be great....thanks

Not that bad of a job.
Make sure you use tubing or flare nut wrenches.
If you don't you more than likely round off the nuts.
After you are done turn the steering wheel back and forth to get any air out.
Figure a couple of hours.

16mm on the pump side, 18mm on the rack side. Sometimes its just easier to cut the line right by the nut and use a standard socket to get it off. If its been leaking for a while, its going to be a messy job.

thanks guys got some time next week got the hoses in just getting everything lined up....i was thinking i had to remove a bunch of stuff to get them out....much appreciated

Only replace the high pressure line unless you know for a fact that the return line is leaking (very rare).

Girlfriend's '02 LeSabre has a P/S hose leak. I'm assuming it's the high pressure hose. I have to refill the reservoir once every two weeks so it's not hemmoraging yet. Was wondering if I should do both hoses while I'm there and messy.
Also, is it best done from the top or from the bottom?

Only need to worry about the high pressure line. Need to do it from the bottom.
