Several months ago I started getting a strange rattling every so often. It's hard to describe other than being a metallic rattle. The way it sounded, I really was thinking it was the passenger side seat belt mechanism in the top of the seat. Well just the other day I had the sunroof shade open, and it was rattling louder than normal. I leaned over, and that's when I was able to notice it was coming from above. It isn't the screws that are usually mentioned for adjustment. It seems to be the track that the sunroof sits on. The passenger rear corner of the glass is a little low (the adjustment screws I think are as far up as they can go). And I can reproduce the rattle by pushing up on the glass and releasing it in quick repetition. I don't get the same rattle if I push on the driver side. Does anyone know if this can be remedied?

If you raise the glass slightly by the vent mode, does the rattling stop?

Remove the 4 bolts that hold the glass in, remove the glass, activate the sunroof both to the vent and slide back functions. Inspect the movements of the track. If something is broken, you will be able to notice right away.

If both tracks operate correctly, but at slightly different angles, a calibration is necessary. I can explain further if needed.

Mines pretty much the same way. Its like the rivets that hold the tracks in place are loose.

yeah, I checked this morning in the vent position and it doesn't rattle. If it ever gets warm again maybe I'll take the glass out.

I get a plastic rattle in my car that I believe is coming from the shade, I know this because I can put pressure on it and the noise goes away. Of course I don't have the headliner on it either cause someone else ripped it off before I got the car.

-Going off topic... How do you adjust the sunroof cause after a little while mine will drop down and leak.

If you removed the fabric from the sunshade, it will indeed rattle. The foam backing on the fabric is the only friction that keeps it tight.

Using the switch, set the position of the glass exactly as you want it to be. Remove the motor from the assembly (drop headliner). With the motor unbolted, run the motor through its full cycle a few times. Bolt the motor back in and test it before putting everything back together.
