I have a 2000 SSEi -edit
Hey guys just noticed this noise a few days ago thats started to develop, at first I thought it was a belt squeak but im convinced its not. It seems to be coming from one of the pulleys and could not locate it with a mechanics stethoscope. Im kinda stumped. Has anyone had a baring go bad in one of their pulleys? Also it does seem to get louder with throttle. tested this at a drive through. It gets louder the more throttle but then gets drown out by the exhaust pretty soon so I would think I can rule out any accessory stuff. Maybe the super charger baring has gone bad. Any ideas guys?

Have you tried pulling the belts and turning the individual pulleys by hand?

I have thought about it, but I was going to wait for the weekend to delve into it. I started looking more into it on youtube, found a few people with the same noise I have the the first guy might be right. Some say its just the throttle idle pulley or the tensioner going bad, they are the same size and same pulley. And some say it was the barring for them. So I just bought 2 pulleys and am gonna replace the idle and tensioner and see if that fixes it. They looked old and the pulleys wernt to much that If it is a baring I wont feel bad about changing them out for new.

if the belts looks questionable might as well change it too since you are going to remove it. Also start the car (briefly) with the belt removed to confirm the noise is coming from a belt driven accessory or supercharger

I was gonna say, remove the belts. I spent a year one night bouncing between 3 parts store parking lots replacing pulleys, it ended up being the lower idler for the belt, it was the last one I replaced, and that was after I replaced the entire tensioner because I thought it was bad. I think I still have a spare ribbed pulley from that incident, 5 years ago. I replaced all of them before I figured that one was bad, I finally saw it dancing around. In my defense, it was February and cold, and I had to fix it so it was reliable for my 2 hr drive to the airport the next day...

I really appreciate the tips you guys are sending my way. I will definitely check the belt and the other pulleys while the belt is off. make sure none of them are wobbly or anything. I will do it this weekend, If the pulleys arrive by then (I hope) This is the first actual mechanical thing I've had to fix on this car in all the miles I've put on her.

As bearings go bad, they may just feel rough when you turn them by hand, rather than there being too much play.
I changed out all the pulleys and belts with good quality replacements from Rockauto and Amazon when I first got my cars.
Not worth getting stuck on the side of the road due to a $12 pulley or $20 belt.

True that, I found that the tentioner and the idler were both bad, So I replaced both and both belts with high quality replacements, now Goldein is a happy camper.

...and now, Sether must be a happier camper , too!

Always nice when it's a simple & relatively inexpensive fix.

You are right! No longer stressing about the problem and that gives me more time thinking about what performance/general upgrades I want to do next, Like a smaller SC pulley or maybe a new transmission pan with an actual drain plug and a shift kit. These are the things I'd rather be thinking about. :D
