How do you know the freon is okay, and is it blowing plenty of air, just not cold, or is it cold air, but just not a lot of it?

I added refrigerant to the appropriate pressure reading, but not getting cool air

Is the compressor running at all? If so, is it staying steadily engaged or cycling? Was it running when you started adding refrigerant?

I don't know if this fits your issue but my 92 SSE had a lot of "air" leaking from the AC ductwork seams before the dash vents. Sealing those or fixing the deteriorated foam seals increased the airflow out of the vents.

When you say you checked pressure, did you use a gauge set, or a gauge on a can of refrigerant? Knowing the high side and low side readings will help identify the problem. A properly running system will keep the compressor engaged most of the time on MAX cool, but when you change to regular A/C , it will cycle. Fast cycling ( on/off/on ) within a few seconds usually indicates a low charge.

Other things that can affect cold output are moisture in the system ( how did you charge this back up? Was it completely empty? ) Also, heat transfer. Is the evaporator and condenser clean of debris? Run cold water on the condenser and see if the temps go down significantly. If you have a bad orifice tube, that can cause problems as well. A weak compressor or a blend door that isn't keeping hot coolant from mixing with it can also cause problems.

Good luck and report back what you discover.

Also just to note R134a is a fickle beast... If its a tad low it wont function properly, if its a tad over charged it won't function properly.. Its not as forgiving as R12..

Is the compressor and its related parts all original?
