Has anyone dealt with this code? Or the knock sensor circuit?

I have been getting Knock sensor circuit codes on the van... I'm thinking the rear knock sensor has failed or there is a break in the circuit for the knock sensor..

What I get is Flat timing, and at times the timing will be all over the board while cruising.. For a moment the timing will come up and then suddenly its all over the place then boom timing again... Listening to the engine I do not have true knock, its as quiet as a mouse even under load in TCC lock 4th gear at 44Mph..

When the PCM allows timing to max out as it should it makes great power.. And then out of the blue its just dead flat making you think its a 4 cylinder..lol.. Its all really intermittent..

when I hook up my ultra gauge to monitor the timing it will be between 34-35* while cruising and then it goes flat and you see 16* and then Boom 34* again...

Thoughts before I chase the Knock sensor circuit? Just wondering if I am on the right track.. Was glad to see a code pop up...lol

PS,

The van is running a 1997 Buick LeSabre tune on stock timing tables as I have been trying to figure out the issue..

Well I don't have any experience with the knock sensor circuits, but if you need any pages on it from the Bonne FSMs, I can get some pics of them for you if you don't already have a set :)

After looking at the service manual, it appears that only 5 things will cause this code
1)A poor connection/wiring at either the ECM or the knock sensor
2)Wiring harness running too close to high voltage wires, such as spark plug wires
3)Faulty knock sensor
4)Enigine knock
5)Bad ECM

#2, #4 and #5( Different PCM same result ) are pretty much ruled out.. I replaced that Bank 1 knock sensor and it made no difference so its looking like #1 may be my issue..

But I will replace the rear Knock sensor as well, Also I will run new circuits for both of the knock sensors from the PCM all the way to the knock sensors.. I have already made my replacement wires, I am going to order some new knock sensor connectors that way I know the circuit will be 100%..

Thanks, I think this has me heading in a good direction.

Sounds like you'll have it resolved soon.
