I'm trying to install two 300 amp alternators on my 2000 bonne supercharged. But to no avail I have not been able to find a place that sells a kit for dual alts if anyone could help me out it will be highly appreciated.

What in the world do you need 600 Amps worth of electricity for on your car?

No one makes one that I know of, you will have to custom make it, if you truly need it.

the extra power wouldn't be just for the audio upgrade, it's for all of the electronics. For example one day I could have on at the same time the heat on high, my leather seats warming, and my son playing a video game; by not being able to supply the battery with an adequate charge could prematurely wear my battery. Not to mention I've upgraded to a16v system.

Ive had all that on in my truck, minus a kid playing a video game, and Im sure my battery wont be worn prematurely. But to give my answer to the question, no I dont know anyone who makes that kit. I would run a dual battery system before messing with a set up for two alternators.

Another thing to take into consideration is that at idle you will most likely be putting out less amps than a stock alternator. I was checking into a 160-180amp alternator and I had 3 different shops that rebuilds alternators say the same thing.

Odd how the question at hand has been forgotten. With my current configuration one alternator does not keep the batteries charge.

Then you have either a bad alternator, battery, or both. The demands you listed are not enough to overcome a 300 amp alternator. My 160 amp could drive that list with no problem.

I have way more than I mentioned for instance I just upgraded my audio system running close to 20000 watts rms, a load of led lights, mac mini pc, with a 2000 watt power inverter just to name the big power users.

Ok lets backtrack a little then, nobody makes a kit and you will have to custom make it.

20000 rms seems a little extreme is this a comp car?

It breaks down to 14500 on two 15's and 5000 on 24dr speakers varying in size. It's my daily driver, I have been in local car shows with my old system but without this second alt I can't hook it all up to compete with the new setup.

I thought this forum was for people who have a passion for bonnevilles to help others with problems on their bonneville. I presented a simple question thinking that I could get some assistance. For your information willwren this is not my family car which actually has a superb new bose speaker system. Thanks to those who did provide useful info not opinions.

The fool is the one who passes judgement on someone who he knows nothing about. How I decide to spend my money is my concern not yours, just because I have money to blow because I make more than I know what to do with does not make me a fool.

I'm going to both agree and disagree with you here man. What you do with your car is your buisness, and we're here to help. At least most of are it seems... Anyhow... Do i think you need it, no. But thats not what you asked... I can actually get a professional opinion on this from my auto/electronics teacher tomorrow. Maybe he can help me with some info to help you.

As said before you will likely have to custom make some sort of bracket and idler pulley system and also figure out how to wire it.

To make dual alternators work, you would probably have to delete the air conditioning and put the alternator there, custom making brackets that hold the alternator at the right spot to prevent belts clashing, etc. You would then have to figure out how to wire said second alternator in.

However, you still have a problem. Have you ever seen a 300 Amp alternator? They're huge. I am unaware of anyone that even makes one that would replace your stock alternator, and even 300 amps would put a HUGE load on your engine, especially at idle. Also, a 300 Amp alternator doesn't really put out 300 amps till you rev the engine up, and lots of big alternators have less output at idle than a smaller, stock style alternator that is designed for low RPM use.

I would start with a multiple battery setup first.

This is where I went for my 160amp, which has served me well for quite a while...believe you went here too right Wren?

You'll have to call them, they don't list for our car but do have. See what they can offer you.

That's correct. Still going strong after god knows how many years. He'll make a 200 amp for a 2k car, no problem.

Relocating the ignition coil bracket will probably be a better bet than deleting the air conditioning to make a spot for the second alternator. Maybe the 60 degree V6 bracket could work with a little modification that locates the coils above the rear valve cover.
