We just bought our car (118K miles) and it drove great (smooth shifting) while I drove it the first few hours. Then the wife drove off in it ...

Called me an hour later and said she pulled into a parking stall in a lot, then backed up to enter it straighter, when she put the car back in "Drive" and took her foot off the brake, the car rolled back like it was in neutral. She moved the shifter to R - nothing (still in neutral), back to D - still in neutral. She moved the shifter to several positions and nothing. She engaged the emergency brake, stopped the engine and called me.

I asked her to re-start the car and see what it did. Once she re-started the car, the shifter and gears worked fine. Any idea what happened?
I drove the car all around afterward and could not get it to repeat. Took it to a tranny repair place and they took it for a test drive and could not get it to repeat. No current codes.

Former owner said tranny had problems. Had to shift manually.
