Intense emailed me yesterday, they don't have any 1997 L36 cores to flash. They might not get one before WCBF. If I can find one, I can send it to them to flash. I'd like to have the Intense PCM for the day at the track. I don't want to give them my stock PCM, I don't trust California to pass any modifications for smog, so I keep my stock parts to swap back in for the smog check every other year. (They already won't pass my car if it has the ricepipe and K&N intake, even though it measured less smog with it, compared to stock airbox.)

So. . . looking for a 97 L36 PCM.
Will the PCM from other 1997 L36 cars: (Delta88, LeSabre) work as well for flashing by Intense?

I got two of them. Funny how they want a specific tune, as the PCMs are identical between L36 and L67 (the OS is what separates them). What exactly are you looking for in a tune? I might be able to help you out.

I don't know that they do want the specific L36 PCM, if the PCM is the same hardware as the L67, I just presumed it had to be for an L36. If and L67 PCM would work, then I could use that.

I was just going to get the basic tune, which changes the shift points, changes some fans settings, and disables limit cutoffs. Someone else recently posted that an Intense Basic Tune PCM was the best upgrade they did on their 97 NA.

I don't have any plans for cam or rocker changes, my only performance mods are the K&N cone filter and Autozone pipe intake, along with swapping in a magnaflow dual outlet muffler for the stock SE single outlet muffler. If I ever have to open up the intakes again, I'll get the LIM ported, as I understand there's some significant restrictions there that can be easily opened up.

But that's really all I have planned. There's a limited number of mods that don't require opening up the engine, and the PCM looks like a fairly inexpensive mod with a number of real-world benefits. I'd like to get it in before WCBF if possible.

Since I'm planning to keep my stock PCM, a core is basically worth $50 to me, as that's what Intense charges if I don't provide them a core. They're offering to flash my stock PCM since they don't have any cores for 97 right now, so if an L67 PCM would work, I'm interested!

I'll email Intense to make sure an L67 core would be fine. From what you said, it sounds like it shouldn't be a problem.

Both the PCMs I programmed came from L36 powered vehicles. After a write-entire through HP Tuner software, they became L67 pcms. The only difference is in the OS, as it controls pinout assignments.

PM me details on how you want this PCM. I'll send you what I have, WITH a tune for the L36 (I'll even kill the VATS for you). I have a stock 97 L36 tune at the ready, so a tweak or two will be easy...

At INTENSE we do PCM's by the book. I can't tell you how many problems other vendors have using different part numbers for various car years and so we always make it a policy to use the correct part number for the correct year.

97 Bonneville L36 PCM part number is 16217058
97 Bonneville L67 PCM part number is 16227797

I apologize if this means that sometimes we don't have a proper core in stock but we would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to your baby :)
