So, I was reading an article in car craft magazine from Dec. 07, and it was on superchargers. Now granted they focus on musclecars and Hot Rods, but a lot of the stuff still applies to us. So in the article they mentioned a TVS technology, with 2-4 lobe rotors, with a 160* twist. The main difference is the efficiency of the unit, being able to move more air than standard 3 lobe units. My question is, would one of these work on a 3800?

The case on that unit looks identical to the M90 case on my SSEi.

someone might want to look into seeing if the rotor packs will swap into the Gen 3 or 5.

Exactly what I was thinking. The only difference I can see is the rotor design. The case should still be the same.

LOTS of Mods
only one problem with the TVS is that almost no whine is produced

there is a thread on another forum where people are thinking about getting a adapter plate made so that the TVS could be a bolt on

Do you have a link for that?

I thought the whine was produced by the straight rotor gears in the nose drive. :???:
More efficient ==> cooler
I would hit it if it was possible. :banana:

If that was the case, you'd have the same whine at a particular RPM no matter the throttle setting. The whine is caused by higher pressure air escaping up through the center of the rotor pack. If you look, there is some dead space where the rotors mesh. The reason you don't hear the whine at idle and cruise is that the boost bypass opens, so the small amount of air that is carried back up through the rotors isn't pressurized.

Anyway, it looks like the R900 is equivalent to the M90, but I'm not sure if the rotor width is exactly the same. Besides, the tolerances are tight enough on a GenV that rotor-swapping is discouraged, I could only believe that they'd be even tighter on the GenVI.

thats where a micrometer would come in handy especially if you were going to the .0001"
