1997SE: Single exhaust to dual-outlet exhaust summary:

For the muffler, Magnaflow part number 12266 which is the "aluminized" version, $81.71.
Part number 14266 is the stainless version, $113.60.

This is the standard F-body (Camaro) muffler from Magnaflow, 2.5" inlet, dual 2.25" outlets. After I got the aluminized, I kind of wished I got the stainless, but they both have a lifetime warranty, and I called the company and they said either one would last about as long as the other, so I stuck with the aluminized. Many other members here have used the same muffler. Other alternatives are Flowmaster, and stock Camaro replacement mufflers.

Ractive stainless steel wide oval tips, got mine at Autobarn, around $42.

If you do this upgrade on your SE, It is generally recommended to keep the stock catalytic converter, resonator, and OEM stainless connecting pipes. If your cat is bad and needs replacing, the high-flow Magnaflow has been used by many members. (I'll add the part number if anyone has it.)

If you go with performance cat and larger diameter pipes, you'll lose some low-end torque. Going with just the performance muffler adds a nice low-end growl.

The shop set the tips so the bumper overhangs them by 1.5 inches, and the tips are slung just under the red bumper reflectors, in the same spacing they would be where the SLE and SSE/i models have the bumper cutouts for exhaust:

From this angle they look like they stick out, but they're actually completely beneath the bumper, and can't be seen at all from a top-down view.

Installation: Warning, my install has UGLY welds. Other members have welding that is a work of art. There are some extra adjustments that were needed on my install to correct a low-hanging resonator, apparently left un-repaired by insurance after a major accident. I had that corrected at the same time. In any case, my shop did UGLY welds.

Thanks for the info. Couldn't see your pictures. Could you repost the photos? Merry Christmas! Have ever lowered your springs, if so what springs did you use.
