I need help in selecting a fuel pump for my 2003 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi.

gmpartsdirect.com
- the fuel pump shows as being GM#88963643 $234.00

and

on rockauto.com they have a few choices, I see a
-Delphi Part # FG0265 {MODULAR FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY} $269.79
and
-ACDELCO Part # MU1283 {#88963643} MODULE KIT,F/TNK F/PMP $263.99

.....I have know idea pertaining which one to order. I would also like to know what all comes with the fuel pump....I am changing because my car takes about 10 seconds to start after holding the key but when I tap the key a few times it starts right up. The dealership said my fuel pump is not performing at the right pressure, I changed the fuel filter a while back. I was also thinking about changing the filter again after putting in a new pump. Please help me in deciding what all I should get and what comes with it!!! Thanks!!!!

PS: What is the reliability of these fuel pumps?

Get the racetronix pump. Very reliable in our cars and does a great job. http://www.prjperformance.com/Products/ ... index.html

Buy it here: $150 (you can't use the harness with the 2K+ body. It doesn't work without significant modification) http://www.prjperformance.com/Products/

It could also be a failing FPR as well. I know that after I replaced my fuel pump my FPR was still keeping my starts slow and pressure slightly lower than normal. Replacing the FPR did wonders to correct that.

As far as which pump...the Dephi is probably the one that is in there right now, and the delcos are probably the same thing anyways, so whichever is fine.

Pumps are usually just pumps. You also need to get a strainer for the pump..I can't say for sure it doesn't come with one though. Best bet would be to call a dealer and ask them if it comes with or without.

sounds like a FPR problem to me as well... does it run fine once you get it started?

It hard starts when its been sitting for like a little minute. After it starts the car runs great it just has that problem starting it up. If I drive for a minute and try to start it right back up it starts. When I tap the key to the on position a few times it starts. The dealership sayed they tested it and the fuel pump was working at low pressure but when its warm it worked ok.

Yeah, sounding more and more like an FPR. If it were the fuel pump, chances are, almost definitely, it wouldn't keep running once started..but sometimes with FPRs, it will, and from personal experience, it can. It is a good thing to eliminate anyways since it is considerably cheaper and much easier to install.

So by FPR you mean fuel pressure regulator right? And where is that located at?

Yes, and it is located on the fuel rail. Very easy to replace...normally just a screw or two, press fit and a vacuum line. Its the little canister looking thing on your fuel rail with a vacuum line going to it.
