I have noticed that when I took apart transmissions mated to V8s at the wrecking yard that they have a different bearing. It's a needle bearing. On my 2003 SSEi it has a solid thrust washer. I have started to reassemble my trans for this car and opted to use the needle bearing from the V8 variant.

This is where I need constructive criticism... SHOULD I leave it in there -OR- should I use what it came with? I am to understand that the needle bearings relieve load. But I wanted to come here and get some advice to be certain of my choice. If good, great If not, then I will go back and put what it came with back in it.

PS - Are the V8 chains more costly? should i use them (get a new set)??? Please let me know.

The HD version should always have the needle bearings. Sounds like you might have the incorrect trans or someone installed the wrong part previously.

i should have been more elaborate....I am not talking about the end cap for the differential. what i mean is when you get down to the one way drums where the forward and coast bands are, it's a thrust washer I found. but the V8 versions ARE HD aren't they? In any regard, when I took mine apart, it had the thrust washer. I know that a needle bearing will give ease of operation for the transmission and have less resistance.

I had also considered using the chains from that V8 but not sure about their slack. I want to go to Transtar and get a set, but they have Borg-Warner. Are they a good brand to handle my stock L67? What power rating would they be good to? I hear they are good quality over OEM
