Changed them recently and noticed the old ones had a rusty brownish orange color on the insulator. I put in NGK copper TR55. Am traveling to see friends for the holiday and I stopped at a truck stop to check them and they too have the same coloration.

What is causing this? I have driven it for more than 2000 miles since I got it with 92820 (now 95686) and it hasn’t gotten hot. It has no SES light either.

Hope someone can help me out. Happy Thanksgiving.

No… whole base and insulator is brownish orange. Been running HEET through it to see it helps. But, as I said, no loss of coolant. Leaves me like :dontknow:

Fuel pump was the cause. Engine would start and run rough for a few seconds and smooth out. Checked its pressure and it was at 40 or so PSI. Pulled the fuel regulator and it shot up to near 60. Now with this pump, it starts and runs fine and the spark plugs have cleaned up.

Glad you got it figured out. If that rough start was an issue before, mentioning that would have probably went down the diag path to a pump.
