So I'm just curios. I see these chips on Google for like 50 or around that price. Are the legit in that they would add horsepower and improve my mpg? Or is it just a crock?

hi, welcome to the club!

if you want that stuff, I would stick to proven performance mods for OUR cars.....such as zzp.

None of that adds any power, it is just snake oil.

For the Northstar you are basically stuck with the power you have.

Basically a parts shop that makes higher quality parts (some for performance) for cars such as ones with the 3800 V6, even your Northstar.

The issue with the Northstar is that right now there is no ability to tune it. So we're all stuck with factory settings unless you have the money to run something aftermarket, which probably results in a loss of vehicle functionality in some manner.

There are 4 camshafts. So any aftermarket grind is going to effect at a minimum 2 of them. $300 for a performance cam sounds cheap until you multiply it by 4. I don't think there are a lot of improvements to be made here anyway, even the VVT northstar engines have only marginal improvements.

Headers - DIY, nothing off the shelf. Also limited by exhaust routing of the front header.

The only thing that can really be done to wake up the motor would be forced induction. But again, you're stuck with the lack of tuning options (we keep hearing that somebody is close to being able to tune, but still waiting.)

You can still do the little things, such as cold air intake and more free-flowing exhaust. But it's not like the northstar is slow unless there's something wrong with it.

Yeah it has a slew of I think minor issues I'm trying to find someone that is able to properly diagnose the car and get it back to factory running condition..
