This kinda struck me the other day....since lowering springs for these cars have to be made, and the GP gets the aftermarket lovin'....I'm wondering if there's a shot in swapping over GP or Monte Carlo Struts over to the Bonneville with lowering springs ( if they still sell them ), or if there would be any viability to any other strut/spring swaps....

I'm kinda new to strut suspensions, so this is pure speculation on my part. I'd certainly love to hear the pros and cons or the reason it just won't work.

Given the known W-body strut swap to '86-'99 H-body cars, those can use them. But the '00+ H-body? Well, if you figured out how to do that, and it was cheaper than the existing option, you'd get some serious props.

Well, I guess I'll have to do some JY research this summer when the weather gets nicer. I guess it would depend on what can be mounted to what...whether it would require the steering knuckle from a Grand Prix or ???? Of course, I just went searching and you can't even find a steering knuckle from any major retailer for the Bonneville....why do I keep choosing cars with obscurium parts?

Talking exclusively about the front end, the W-body strut will bolt up to your 00+ knuckle. W-body springs will obviously seat into the W-body strut.

The only things you really need to find out are if the inner diameter of the spring will work with a 00+ H-body strut top mount and what the difference in strut piston rod diameter/top mount perch is. FWIW the 92-99 H-body top mount worked with the W spring but the rod needed to be shimmed and the top mount perch on the rod needed a dome shaped washer for the top mount to safely sit on.

LOTS of Mods
you would still need rear springs made, Also the 00+ is heavier and will give way more than the advertised drop, plus, given the cost of a strut replacement, and W body Drop springs. It would probably be cheaper just to buy the Bonneville Springs.
