I have a 94 bonnie se and want to beef her up but i cant find ANYTHING for Series 1 L27 upgrades/mods, the market just isnt there. i have a few different questions about what i could do to it. The first thing im going to do is out a new exhaust on it tomorrow and next a cai but after that im thinking a new cam. could anhyone help me with that? i cant seem to find one or no what i need. Could anyone help me out for what i should do to it and what cam id need stuff like that? Thankyou in advance.

The exhaust isn't really a restriction on the L27 as I understand it. Gains are to be had in porting exhaust manifolds and intake/exhaust ports however. Same with the CAI. You will want to make sure that it is blocked off from the engine bay for heat. Some build a wall, others relocate the evap canister and run a FWI.

Cam is likely going to be a completely custom job. Even the most serious I have seen a cammed L36 however is running with nearly stock L67's. Willwren had a series 1 L67 and was a good resource to look to when it came to the Series 1, so it may be worth some time to look through some of his stuff too. He eventually hit the wall where he was gaining more torque than horsepower, and had trouble keeping the drivetrain mounted.

What are your goals? How fast do you want to go? What do you want to accomplish?

Welcome.

The L27 is an old dog, and getting power out of it isn't easy, especially while NA. Not saying it can't be done, but you're better off just driving it as is and keeping it maintained.

Or, if that car must make fasties, a Series 2 L67 swap. But it's usually easier to just to start with one in the first place.

Seriously you can get Yella Terra special high ratio rockers. Which I can clearly say they will boost your performance and your satisfaction. Other than that porting and polishing that is about it.
If you're looking for performance the best thing to do is move to the SSEi

Essentially though you cant do much with the SE with there being scarce bolt on mods

Burnt Bonny.

Note if you pull the injectors to obserbe fuel delivery...make sure you leave the plugs in and disconnect the ign. Believe me

Finding a donor car, dropping the subframe out of it with most everything on it, and bolting it in yours. Then you have to sort out wiring and some fuel delivery items as well. Assuming you find a donor Bonneville

Mattstrike did a Series II swap on his 93, and has a crazy build thread on that car. 95NASTA also swapped an L36 into his 95, so those are the guys to look into for the S2 swap and what's involved, but that would be the most performance oriented route to go. As was said, rockers or a custom grind cam are really the only mods available for that motor. The L27's don't handle boost well at all, so top swapping wouldn't be a good option in your scenario like it would be for the S2 L36. Willwren did a lot of custom work to his car that was built and machined by him, so he had a lot of one-off parts on the Zilla. Anything can be made fast with time and money, but there aren't too many off the shelf parts for the L27. The S2 swap would definitely be the most beneficial in your instance if you're able to do the work.

So, crow cams makes came for the L27, but as said, you're not going to get very far with a L27. They just don't have the port flow to make anything other than low end and some mid range grunt. If you decide to look, they're an Australian company and you'll need to look at their series 2 cams. Their series 2 is our series 1 and their ecotec is our L36/L67.

If you find a 1995 H-body with a L36 with the same final drive ratio at the junk yard, that would be the easiest way to get a Series 2 in your car. Pull a 95 L36 with all accessories, wiring harness to the firewall, a/c lines, power steering lines, throttle cables, upper heater hose, and grab the eprom chip from the PCM. Done. 94 and 95 were the same car aside from ditching the L27 for the L36 in 95.

You could also swap in a 96+ series 2 L67 with a 95 wiring harness, 95 accesories, a/c lines, power steering cables, throttle cables, and upper heater hose, but you'll need a custom tune by gmtuners.com. Your stock transmission won't like the extra torque/power of that engine and it may see a premature death.
